New guy on the block here, but not new to the reef scene(since2006). Here is my nanocube 28g. Not much to look at since I had a partial crash that killed all my nice looking SPS! I was only left with a a zoo colony, candy canes and a frogspawn. I got a pair of mated Maroon Clowns and a Royal Gramma that have been with me since 2006, and they even survived the shipment from California! I also have a sea urchin to keep an eye on the hair algae. I got rid of my quad pc and installed the retro LED from Rapid LED(10 Royal blues, 4CB, 4NW and 2WW). I'm also waiting for my upgraded media basket from Media Baskets, so that I can get rid of the crappy original media holder. Tunze 6025 in the main display and maxijet 1200 on one side of the rear chambers and will get rid of the other original pump when I get some extra cash. I'm having trouble with Nitrates at 20ppm for right now, so I ordered chemipure and purigen together with the media basket to help with this(did many water changes, but it's still at 20ppm).

I'm using RO water from my kit . Do you mean test the water that I made before I put it into the tank? I haven't thought about that.

How do you like your LED color spectrum? I did a RapidLED solderless retrofit on my RSM130 with just whites and blues and I'm less than impressed with my growth. I see you have a much more diverse spectrum and your corals look gorgeous. I'm thinking of changing mine and would love your opinion on what you like (or don't), and have had success with! Thanks!

Thanks! I have given a bunch of free frags and donated a huge trumped coral during the swap(not that I'm bragging or anything). I was able to save a couple of tiny frags, but they are on my other tank. Sure I would love that!

Here is my current LED colors: 10RB 4CB 4NW 2WW, so It's not really full spectrum but it gets the job done. I see that rapid led now offers a full spectrum when ordering, but I chose those colors, based on a recommendation of another experienced member. My orange monti, which survived my mess up grows very quickly, as do my LPS like the candy canes. I'm pretty happy with my setup, but honestly, if I had to do it again, I would try to put some more color LED's in there. I don't have any reds, UV's or greens. With that said, some of my corals can triple in size in just on year, but I keep on top of the water changes, have good movement, I practice good husbandry etc.

The store didn't have IO, so I went with Kent Marine sea salt mix. I must admit that it mixed much faster then the IO and it doesn't leave any residue like IO does at the bottom of my bucket. It also comes in a jug so no more clumping! My animals seem to be reacting positively to this salt, so I'm sticking with it.

Update 11/4/2014:
I added an Apex Jr with the VDM module in order to control my meanwell drivers for my LED's, my cooling fan, and return pumps. It has been working great! I didn't do such a good job with the wiring, but I made sure that I had drip loops! I also used the center removable shelf of my NC stand as an installation board for my Apex and just screwed everything horizontally.

I just started following. My condolences on the loss from the war against the Xenia. You are going to love the Apex system. I have the full version but the Jr. gives you such a nice foot in the door of automation. I saw in your first post that you are from Cali originally. If you don't mind, whereabouts were you at? I grew up in the Long Beach/Cerritos of Southern Cali.

Thanks! I was not born over there(my 7yr old daughter was), but I spent about 12 to 13 years over there on and off between Central America(I'm from Nicaragua) and other parts of the US(Miami). I lived in the San Fernando area all that time, which is considered the suburbs of LA.

A local refeer here had a great price on an WXM module for my Apex Jr, so it was a no brainer to pick it up! I also ordered the RF module(on its way) for my MP10 to add the wireless functionality. I was getting tired of pressing the feed button on my MP10. When I'm done, I'm going to be down to one button for feed mode instead of two.

Wow I love the growth not a bad start!! not a bad start at all.
Well I have had a few starts with this tank to be honest. Two partial crashes and the most recent problem I just had was that I turned my A160we down to 35%, which made both of my BTA's wonder around, so I put the light back to 60% stop this, but then my SPS were getting burned! So now I'm back to 45% intensity. A few ups and downs since 2012 because I lost all of my SPS when I moved my tank from my apartment to my house due to an ammonia spike since I used the old sand! Then got SPS again, everything was going fine until I decided to scrape my pulsating Xenia from my glass, which nuked my beautiful SPS colonies!

Some of my New additions that I could get a good picture of. The others, I would need a macro lens to get a good picture. Corals with no pictures: Kwajalein Montipora peltiformis (blue polyps with brown background), screaming green birds nest, and M. palawacensis (orange color).

Looks great, just watch the frogspawn if he decides he does not like his neighbors he will start stinging them.

Update 09/22/2015: September photodump. I have noticed that the colors on my pictures were "meh" compared to other people using DSLR's. I'm using an SL1 from Canon, so I decided to tweak my camera some more and not just aperture, ISO, etc. I dug deeper into the settings, with some impressive results! Also I have already noticed some growth from all of my frags everything is looking very happy. Check it out!:

Thanks! On the left side is the stock accela pump(which is very quiet) and it's still working very well after 4 years. On the right side, the stock pump broke, so I replaced it with a MJ 1200, which I hate because it's very noisy! I made the mistake of getting a MJ made by Marineland, and everyone knows that you buy a MJ made only by Cobalt. It's very strong but I'll have to change it soon because it drives me crazy.

Thanks! It was well worth the effort to mess with my camera settings! And these are with the stock 55mm lens! One day I'll get me a used 90mm macro lens from Tamron so that I can take my macros to the next level.

October Update! I added an ATI 4 Bulb Dimmable fixture (set at 100%) to supplement my Kessil. I'm not replacing my Kessil, since I still like the look better, and for some reason, I can take better pictures with the Kessil at intensity 100% and spectrum at 100%. I'm only going to bathe my corals with T5's for 2 hours a day for the first week, then increase it to 3 hours the next week, so that hopefully I can eliminate some of the areas of my colonies that are not getting light While the T5's are on, I turn off my Kessil. Also I hope to get more even growth from my SPS too. I bought the ATI used from a fellow reefer here and it even came with the bulbs that have about two months of usage. The bulbs are two Blue + , one Coral + and one Purple +.

I went to Home Depot and found some shelf rails that I put together in order to hang my light. Here is what it looks like T5's on only:
http://i795.photobucket.com/albums/yy237/en28so/IMG_3195.jpghttp://i795.photobucket.com/albums/yy237/en28so/IMG_3196.jpghttp://i795.photobucket.com/albums/yy237/en28so/IMG_3207.jpg

And now just an October FTS 10/05/15 with my Kessil light on only. Lots of growth!:
