What do you have as a sand sifter? I was plainning on getting some nassarian snails but was wondering what else do you think is a great sifter.

Diamond goby. They are jumpers though...

Tiger conch, i have two in my 125 and they do a great job of cleaning up and disturbing the sand.

Love diamond gobys, they sift everything and they're cool to watch.

Diamond goby here. It's likely the most watched and commented on fish in the tank.

Don't plan on keeping your sand a certain way. They will win that fight. I went for months following behind him trying to keep the sand level across the tank to no avail. :)

would you recommend him in a 14g nano?

Nope. Too small for keeping it throughout its life cycle.

don't mess up and get an engineer goby... the difference between the two is the altitude they gain before releasing the sand.

Lmao. Mine can get some altitude sometimes. Make it almost like a snow globe. Lol

For something that small I'd stick to snails!

A lot depends on tank size. I'm not a huge fan of diamond gobies, or any other sand sifting fish. I keep quite a few chalices and acans on the sandbed, and I don't want them buried by a sandsifting goby. I use tiger tail cucumbers in most of my tanks to keep the sandbed clean and tidy. They don't shove stuff around, and they don't spit sand on everything in the bottom of the tank. If I couldn't/didn't keep the tiger tails, I would probably use something like a fighting conch. But, those also require a pretty good sized tank. Snails will do a passable job, particularly in a smaller tank.
