Guys/Gals,

I'm thinking of building a rimless frag tank say, 36 x 20 x 12 (maybe shorter) should be just over 40 gallons...

I've built smaller tanks before, always with bracing and what not - but it was a long time ago - and now i find myself wondernig what the rule is on stands/surfaces for rimless tanks...

do you go whole hog like acrylic and put a piece of foam under them or go you only support the edges... my brain has forgotten... stupid brain...

are you talking about doing a glass tank? if so, i have always heard that if the tank rests on the entire surface of the glass bottom, it needs to be on a solid surface and foam. if it rests on a molding around the edge, it should not be on foam.

hey Ace,

yeah, the idea was to do glass. and the solid surface + foam is what i remember - but it's a fuzzy and distant memory.

That's consistent with what I have always heard. Trim, no foam. No trim, foam.

an no trim = solid surface
