Ai director beta

I was chosen to try the beta version of it... Anyone else? I think a few others signed up...

Looking forward to see what it can do.. I will keep you posted, I'm going to master this beta ;)

Thanks, so looking forward to messing around with it.....

There's a few things I am worried about....

Will it work with Mac, should of checked but I have a little notebook I can bust out if I have to...

Will the PC have to be powered on all the time.... I like to shut mine down when I'm not using it for awhile.... No more than a day but I want to know will my lights continue to operate without it....

And can I control my ai nano n Vegas at the same time..

It should be, as there newest update specifially added compatability of all there fixtures at the same time. Also, there's a mac in the display on there site. I'd imagine so and Justin at AI told me he was certain it would be.

Messed with it for awhile last night.... Sort of a pita...

was having difficulties getting it on my network, when i finally did my units were too far away and i was only getting a bar of communication..... Easy fix but so far unimpressed..

the menu is really bland, guess thats cause its the beta version.. But I couldnt get to use my regional timer which i really like.... So i said hell with it an unplugged it all and busted out the controller again....

Will try again later....

i did like the way you will be able to program your lights, it makes it much more simple but this thing has a few bugs to work out...

Okay, to update this thread....


I gave up on the beta, i didnt have the time or the patience for the beta... I sold my unit off... I thought i was done..

So i thought....

Im setting up a 14 gallon tank onto my display tank... It will be used as a frag tank but im more than likely going to add some rock and my clowns...

It will be lit by a ai hydra... I can add the hydra onto my controller but it will have the same intensities as the vega's over my display... And will more than likely nuke what ever i put under it. I will be keeping the hood and modding the lid for the hydra to fit, so maybe 3" at most AWl...

So elegant reef had a director in stock and i scooped it up..... At first i got aggravated again trying to link them up and get the lights updated.... But now that they are, its awesome!

I can view and adjust my settings on my phone, pick intensities and mess with the cloud or storm feature.. Anything the controller can do but on my phone or ipad...

Im liking it and the fact that i will link up vega's, hydra and the ai nano light over my fuge all at different intensities...

Hmmm, I absolutely hate setting my Vega's with the controller. I was contemplating picking up the Neptune AWM module after hearing all the complaining about the Director, but there aren't many reviews on the AWM...

I love it now.... Only had issues with one of my lights not getting the update and not responding after the other 2 were hooked up... Took me a bit to figure out...

Well, I picked up an AWM module several days ago. At first I hated it. It's not nearly as intuitive and pretty (interface) as the AI Director, so I signed up for Apex Fusion. I couldn't get Fusion to save the settings back to the Apex, so I fell back to the internal web interface to program it. It took me a bit to set up the profiles and program it all, but now that I have it all setup, I do like the fact that there is much more programability and customization with the Apex AWM. I'm still messing with some of the settings, so we'll see how I feel once I get everything locked down.
