I can't find any info about the relative brightness of blue Stunner Strips versus VHO actinics. Does anybody know where I can look?

If you are just looking for the blue actinic look they will work just fine. I use 3-14" reefbrite XHOs over my 240 and they light the entire tank once the primary LEDs go off. They are brighter than any VHOs I've seen. However VHO offer a lot more than just blue light. They offer a fuller spectrum which cannot be paralleled with just blue LEDs. You might sacrifice a little color.

Jack you are welcome to borrow one of my Reefbrites just to see how it would look over your tank.

Troy, If you leave your main lights on, can you tell the difference if you turn on and off your XHOs?

Yes, the blue, reds, and greens POP when they are on. It is subtle, but I notice it right away when they turn off.

what size is the tank?
something to remember is the stunners are 1/2 a watt, if that.... and a quick search on the reefbrites has them at 3 watt.
IMO I would look for something like the reefbrites or build your own strips, with 1-3 watts.

I love the stunners for what they are..... I had a few and a few of there panorama pros, which even the pros would get washed out when my 150 MH's would come on....
I've always wanted to try these

as much as the stunners but double the output....

Rocketeer, did you ever make the switch?
I just went back to halides as my main light source but am thinking about replacing my vho's with the reefbrite strips. It seems like everyone is out of the 48" super actinic vho bulbs from UVL right now.
i took Troy up on his generous offer and will be testing his xho strips on my fixtures starting this weekend.

I ended up getting AI Vegas. It was time to buy bulbs again, ... They look pretty good by themselves.
