Didn't rinse my sand good enough and now my water is all brown. How do I get rid of and prevent it.

If your water is brown, you could use carbon or do water changes. If you just have a brown film on everything, it may just be a diatom bloom. If it's a new tank, that's normal.

It's a new tank but the sand is from another tank and I didn't rinse it again.

If it's a brown powdery film, it's diatoms. If it's brown water, I'd rinse the sand really well. It's not a good idea to start with used sand that's filled with detritus IMO.

Yeah that's what I didn't do was rinse the sand again.

Ride it out, Swimmer. It'll level out and go away in time. Patience is key and pays back in very large dividends.

Ok just hope it don't have any lasting effects. My tank looks like poo.

It shouldn't. It's only one part of "new tank syndrome".

Is your actual water brown or is there a brown powdery film on stuff? If your water's brown, I can give you some stuff to try. If it's a brown powdery film on everything, it's a normal part of the cycle and will go away. I'm still not quite sure on what you're seeing. Pics might help.
