Woke up this AM to no power. I started to pour tank water from a few inches above tank to provide air and minor stirring. What steps/measures do you take to prevent tank die-off in power outages? What equipment do you have to help? Do the LFS have different measures? Generator etc... I live close to ER and AD so I think they had a power outage as well and still may.

Would love a generator, think it would be hilarious to have one running on balcony of apt, all for the sake of keeping the reef and keurig running :)

The battery operated bait bubblers from walmart will save your tank in an emergency. They cost about $15, run 12 hours on 2 "D" cell batteries. I keep five or six on hand at all times. I have a generator, but like any air cooled engine, I can't guarantee that it will start when I need it too.

The bait bubblers are cheap insurance. Anyone with a tank should have a few in the closet, for those "just in case" moments.

truck/car power inverters could help too, have to run a long power cable to your car/truck

They use to cell backup battery packs that plugged into the walk and provided electricity for your computer in case of power outages. haven't looked for them in a while though.
