Last night I had lost power for 15 mins, though I was not freaking out just yet, like my wife was, lol. But it got me thinking, last year we had lost power for a day and a half, this is something I am not prepared for. Do any of yall have something set up in cases like this?

I cant do a generator, but was thinking maybe I could use one of those back up battery supplies they have for computers, but I think they only last for an hour.

I have two of them and if I only run my return pump it will last about 2 hrs. We have been talking about setting up a battery backup that is charged by solar panels though

I've thought about it for awhile, I pretty much rely on "I hope it doesn't happen".

If you have vortech powerheads, they have a battery backup you can buy that's suppose to keep the pump going for 30 hours or something. That's what I've used in the past but they are expensive. I'm thinking about a small generator as well. A small solar system that kept batteries charged would be awesome.

Oh yeah, I've also seen rig up a car or marine battery to use for power outages. It's a very diy thing but may be an option.

Power inverter plugged into your car, GFCI, and extension cord. Only run one pump. On smaller tanks battery operated air pump and air stones

That thought came across my mind as well, using a car or marine battery, just didnt know how convenient that would be, plus with a three year old around, didnt think it would be safe for him.
