So today I turn my lights on after a 3 day black out. Man let me tell you that the gfo reactor that I hooked up is definitely working. Almost all the algae is gone. But what is left behind... This nasty snot like substance that I know oh so well. So here we go off to hydrogen peroxide dosing.

Ugh, feel your pain. Got a bad case of Dino's on a new startup tank a few years ago. Lights out and siphoning out as much as possible worked, but it was along drawn out battle. Best of luck to ya'.

Yeah, best of luck. I think if there's anything worse than cyano, it's dino.

For future reference, I've had this same issue in the past with both dino and the snot like algae you mentioned. After using the product "Wasteaway" it cleared right up in about 3-4 days. This product uses live bacteria to work it's magic so it's reef safe and I didn't suffer any lose in time or corals. I would recommend this product to you. Also don't slack on a healthy dose of snails and hermits 5:1 ratio is what I've found to be best to assist in future outbreaks. Mixture of snails is key to help munch away at any micro algae before it spreads and take over your tank again.
