So today I went to SeaWorld and walked through aquatica. That was a mistake. Haha. They have a nice outside FO setup. I talked to the guy some and he said they have chillers and heaters hidden away for it but I am pretty sure my next house will definitely have one of these bad boys. They have mainly tangs, angels and rays in there which would be fine by me. Besides the cooling and heating of the water along with a massive skimmer what other challenges do you think I would face. I wouldn't go quite as big as they did but want a tank with a deep end and shallow much like they have there. Rain and salinity might come into play but not having coral would help a lot since fish aren't as sensitive to that.

Now that Im typing this out I am thinking something sort of similar to Richard's pool I guess. It would have a drop off like they have though.

Or am I insane and shouldn't even consider this like my wife says. Lol She actually is way more on board with this than she is with my current tank.

Lol what about one of those houses with a garden in the center... Can't think of what they are called right now... But usually it's dead center and most of the house has access to the patio area...

what if it there was a huge tank in the middle and the tank can be viewed from most of the windows....

we can dream can't we..

An outdoor courtyard with a giant tank would be awesome!

I had a similar idea a long while back. But as a Frag Farm. Thankfully Allan and a few others talked me out of it. The cost of just the cooling during the summer and heating during the winter would of been to tremendous. But also having to fight an algae problem. But there are ways around all of it, you can take a look at this thread, and it goes more or less into some of the details, I believe there is also a link in there that a guy did this, again for Coral Farming, but I would assume some of the same things will still apply.

Would be nice to see one where a viewing tunnel goes all the way around the water level in the tank is leveled with the ground. Like how it is in some zoos are city aquariums.

Aquatica is kind of like that. The ride goes under the water with a viewing tunnel but I don't really want that cause cleaning that would suck.
