What is this thing

Nemastoma. It is a type of red algae. Apparently a very pretty one at that. Grows in some unique ways. Doesn't seem to be a bad algae.

Thanks for the information koa25, I've had this tank up for 2 years with this same rock in it and have never seen it before and then bam something new pops up. Love a tank that just keeps giveing.

Yea it's only about 1" right now so yea when it grows out I have no problem giving some away. I have no problem sharing, I think I'm gonna let it grow out some more and the ill cut some off and make babies and who ever wants a piece can have one.

http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/03/20/ejetuhyn.jpg well I come from work about 30 min ago to find my sailfin tang and maybe others have made quit work of my red algae to the point they pulled the Rock that it was growing on off onto the sand and there is nothing left. I had no change in the mount of food they were getting and then this happens after all this time. O well I guess we will see if it grows back.
