Mamma skunk went missing last night, just now found her floating on the surface of the tank. Almost four years I've had her.

Not sure what happened, she was fat, almost thought (well I did think) that she was fixing to spawn again.

So what now, get another one for the male? Get another small one?

A bit macabre, but this is her when I found her. Note he bruising around her belly.

I would either buy a larger female asap or get another smaller juvi and let them sort out the male-female order. Sad to see her go...

Maybe I will grab a small one.

I'd go with a small one too.
Sorry she's gone. Was she tank raised (where you'd know the age) or wild caught where it's hard to tell how old she might have been ?

Man those were our favorite fish when we saw them. Sad to hear. But I also would get a juvi and let them sort it out.

That's too bad. I lost my female earlier this year. She was pretty aggressive and I think she bit off more than she could chew messing with the kole tang and/or flame. I was pretty bummed since that pair had been together for 4 years as well.

Thanks, guys.

Karin, I don't know if she was tank raised or wild caught. I got both of them fairly small, on my first trip to B&Bs over on blanco.

She spawned once, but Ben suggested that they may have spawned more often, but that I may have missed the eggs.

Now that I'm down to just one do I have any options other than just picking up another? Will another single species get along with him? I think I already know the answer, but...

Allan, if you decide to go with another type and want to find him a new home, he could join our skunks (we have 3- 1 female and 2 males). She must be randy all the time, because she spawns every few weeks. Sucks you lost your female though. It is weird how they just die sometimes. We recently lost our 4-5 year old flame angel. Was just dead one day. :(

Hey mike, sounds great.

Gloria was upset this morning (strange as she's not much of a hobbiest) so after we sit down and discuss which way she wants to go I will let you know. I'd gladly send him your way.

Question, you have three together? I didn't know they would group very well. That may be another option? Pick up two or three more. Would they do well?

Originally the guy we got them from had 4, but when we went to get them, he could only find three. The 2nd male gets chased some, but with the # of anemones in the 210, it has not been a problem. He just relocates to one of the other ones. I figure the female is keeping him as backup.

Lol, just like a female :) JK ladies.

I really like the bright colors of some of these designer clowns, so I may go down that path, if so my skunk is your skunk.
