MAAST has been pretty balanced this last year! BOD has done and exceptional job!

I'd like to re-elect them all. I know some still have terms...but just saying.

I nominate Ben Rainey (scutterborn) for a position on the BOD.

Also keep in mind: I believe it's still okay to nominate yourself!

I have a couple of nominations I'd like to add (maybe more when I think about it!)

Sherri has been our Treasurer for years, shows a level of dedication that is unparalleled and we would be lost without her. I hope she will accept the nomination to continue being on the Board.

John (Firewater) really understands what MAAST is about and demonstrates commitment to MAAST's philosophy of helping one another out. I would like to nominate him for another term.

John Roescher has also devoted severals years of service to MAAST and brings a great perspective, is always the voice of reason. It would be great if he wants to do another run on the BOD.

Koa25 has stepped up and worked for MAAST as a moderator for this past year. He would be great as a member of the BOD.

I also think grouch would make a nice addition to the BOD. Hope that Time will consider it!

I agree with Kristy.

Current Outgoing BOD has done a good job and I would like to nominate them for another round.

I can't say enough about Sherri. We would be lost with out her expertise as Treasurer.

Tim(grouch) is an excellent choice.
Tony(350gt) it wouldn't go to hell man. I think you would a good choice.
Rrasco, Allan, and Kristy as well.

I am pretty surprised that MY name hasn't been mentioned! Joking! I haven't had the chance to meet most of the board but I agree that things are going great! I would like to throw in Tuan (psycho), he has always been available to answer all of my annoying texts, and really know his stuff. i also think there has to be something that Jeremy (reef freak) could do. Jeremy probably couldn't have picked a better screen name and really is what this hobby needs! Just a few of my thoughts. If anyone would like to be included in receiving my annoying texts just let me know. I'm sure Tuan wouldn't mind!

I definitely agree with the nomination of Ben. Outstanding guy. Well rounded.

I appreciate the nomination, Kristy. But my time is short here in Texas. So after April my influence on maast will be purely on the forums. Meetings would cost a pretty penny to fly back for ha ha. If this is not an issue i would be more than happy to step up to the challenge.

Other members that I would like vote for would be Allan, Big_Pun, Mr_Cob, Texreefer, hobogoto. All are active members, many posts, on maast and would be a good contribution to the board.
Their knowledge and experience in the field would be good assett to Maast.

I need to add this person to my vote. Some people just have the gift to make/build anything and make it look ez. Tuan would be good assett as well.
One of many examples was the frag tank he built at the frag swap which he was actively participating in. good vote here

There's no way I could say enough about the GREAT direction MAAST has taken in the past couple of years. I'm not very active anymore, as other interests have intruded (as they always seem to have done over the years, as my interest goes back and forth). Being on the BOD DOES take some time - and that's why you see former members/officers decline to serve again.

Sherri has been a singular fixture in the Club for many, many years. It's just impossible to properly thank her for her years of service. Thru thick and thin. Thanks again, Sherri, and I hope you accept for next year!

Only about 8 hours a day. Not too bad. ;)

It just takes a regular effort for input in regards to MAAST activities, help planning out meetings, helping others to get the most out of their MAAST experience. It's not a daily thing.

Electricrcplane, rrasco, and Scutterborn are excellent choices. We have so many ideas on the BOD and are looking forward to 2013. MAAST in the last year has become just a great place to post, ask questions, and get great information. And it is because of all the great members we have in this club today. Please continue to nominate.

After speaking with a "large" part of MAAST today, I've decided to accept the nomination for a position on the BOD. I was concerned that, due to my work schedule, I wouldn't be able to devote enough time and attention to the position. I will submit a short bio below and thank everyone again for their support.

As many of you know, my name is Ben. I've been a strong supporter of this forum as long as I've been a member. Many of you can vouch for my dedication to the great members we have here. I've served our country in the Marine Corps and currently I am a crane operator. Not much else to say in regards to myself.

Thanks again for your consideration.

Thanks all for the nomination. A little about me, I'm Eric and by day I'm all about servers, but day dream of reefing. I started reefing in 1991 and stopped in 1994 due to the birth of my daughter. I picked up the habit again in 2008 and really enjoy the hobby. I served in the US Navy and was honorably discharged after I completed my enlistment. I currently dabble, (ok, a little more than dabble) in acrylics and woodworking all to compliment the hobby. I have a mixed reef with lots of SPS, LPS, and zoas/palys.

It appears there are shoes to be filled. I accept my nomination and will do my best to fill them, although I may need to borrow one of Allan's feet to accomplish the task. :P

About me....well, I started my ventures into saltwater last summer. I came from the world of cichlids as so many of us have. I had a 10 or 20 gallon growing up, my dad had two tens with tropical fish; tetras and the like. He thinks I'm crazy now, but still helps me move them. I tell him it is his fault. He just wants to know how I keep them so clean. One day about 6 years ago I got the urge to setup my old 20 gallon. That ended up to be a bad idea, it was in a storage closet for years. Fast track my obsession and at one time I had at least 12 systems running. I wanted to try my hand at saltwater but was always deterred by people telling me how hard and expensive it was. I was deterred for a while, years that is, but I eventually made up my mind, I was taking the plunge. Today, I have 4 tanks with water and plenty without. I still have one cichlid tank for my prized Gibberosa Mobas. A 150 with a coral cat. And my baby, the 105 rimless. I don't think reefing is all that hard like people said, they sure got the expensive part right though.

I work in IT. Like Eric, I play with servers all day (2012 is weird isn't it?). I manage everything from Windows operating systems and domains, phone systems, security access and surveillance systems, to GPS and mobile devices. I also get to play with CNC stuff from time to time. Anything tech related. I like to build stuff. Aquarium stands that break tanks. LED fixtures that burn corals. Anything I can build, I'm liable to try. Did I mention I'm a software engineer? That's really my passion, software. Most of my experience is with web development on that front, but recently getting into microelectronics and allowing me to write code for them...has been a real eye opener and a dream for me. Now that I'm building stuff for my reef...even better. My two favorite things, technology and aquariums. Well, there is hockey, but let's not talk about that right now.

Now that I feel like I wrote an autobiography I leave you with one of my favorite quotes that will give you an excuse to stare at your tank...

Hey thanks Bill...thanks Kristy and John too...I appreciate the nice words. :) I will accept nomination for Treasurer. I'll give a bit of history of myself for those that don't know. I have been a member of MAAST from its' beginning in January 2003. I became the first Secretary on the BOD when it was formed that same year. In 2005, I became Treasurer and have been so since then. I have watched MAAST grow up - both thru hard times and the good times. Unfortunately, I became Treasurer at one of those hard times after helping expose misuse of MAAST money at the time - which we were able to recover. I have set up & manage the accounting system for MAAST for all of our accounts, including checking, savings, PayPal & our CD account. I prepare year end paperwork for our Accountant (taxes). A number of years ago, I helped MAAST to get accepted as a social non profit group. My love for MAAST is being a part of its' growth and purpose. I personally think Kristy and John have taken us in a great direction as Bill said. And I want to see MAAST continue to grow in the right direction. Thanks for the support. I take it to heart....

That seems like a short list and you have left some stuff off Sherri. You do so much more for MAAST and we would sincerely be lost without your expertise.

Thank you for choosing to run again.

Well thanks Kristy I just saw this but I'm afaid I have to decline this year.

Thank You Jarrod! I appreciate your nomination, and will gladly accept if the members will have me. I will post a short bio soon.

Hi Everyone,

My hubby Roscozman & I began reefing in December of 2007; we became part of MAAST in 2008 thru a referral from Craigslist. LOL.. And that’s when our wonderful journey evolved. We currently have two tanks, a 240 Gal Brick Reef &a 40 Gal Solana and we wouldn’t trade them for anything in the world. As many of you know, we hold in our tank Bruce and Bella, two large Vlamingi Tangs and they are a spectacular site.

Moving forward, having served on the Board of Directors for 4 years, it was with great pleasure to serve as your Vice President in 2011, Secretary in ‘09-‘10, and as a Director in ‘09 & ’12. That being said, it was an honor to be part of a well-defined group of men & women.

As a Director, I will devote my time and effort as required. I believe in what MAAST is made of and the current board members have done an excellent job in playing a huge part of what MAAST has become today. During my prior terms, I have also served as POTM/POTY Coordinator and Chief Editor for The Quarterly MAASTARD Newsletter. I would like to get these back and rolling again if you the members will allow me to do so. :photo:

Trust, Honesty, Leadership, Time& Dedication are a very important asset to have when seeking any position on the Board and I will give my best to further contribute to this awesome fish club.

Eve (Pennies2Cents) for Director

It would be hard for me to find someone else that I could support more as a Director, than Eve. I wish I'd known she was interested - I'd have nominated her!

For those that don't know, MAAST went through a rather difficult time a few years ago. Eve and Sherri were THE anchors that held MAAST together during this time. I was privileged to become a Director at the end of this process, and she was just plain wonderful mentor to me during that time - I would not have survived my term on the BOD without her. She then served as VP for a period of time, before having to attend to "other" concerns.

Please, folks, take Eve up on her offer to serve AGAIN.

So how does this work? Are we going to vote on the people that were nominated or if they accepted the nomination they are on the bod? Just curious

In previous years... There were 4 Officers Pres, VP, Treasurer & Secretary and 8 Directors for a total of 12. The secretary & treasurer will be appointed by the bod at the first bod meeting held sometime in the beginning of the following year. See the section of the bylaws below.. Hope this helps.. Its alot easier to explain in person. :) lol

FYI 5 positions are filled, 7 are remaining... Pres, VP & 5 Directors lol its been a while someone correct me if i am wrong..

ARTICLE V – BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Section 1. Membership of the Board of Directors:

Paragraph 1: The Board of Directors of the organization shall consist of:

1. President
2. Vice-President
3. No less than four, or more than 10 Directors elected at large from the organization membership.

Section 2. Election of the At-Large Directors

Paragraph 1: The At-Large Directors shall be nominated and voted on by the membership in December of each year in the same manner as the election of officers.

I know it's kind of last minute but, I would like to see Ray Allen nominated. He always seems so very level headed and experienced. He's an asset to MAAST and think he'd be a great addition.
