i had a long talk with him the first day at macna very informative, there was also a guy who owns a store buy a 5 gallon bucket of his bio pearls which i plan on buying next. emily plans on using his fishless cycle on the new nano.

Dissolves sludge and dirt
Unclogs gravel/coral beds
Removes hidden wastes
Contains no phosphates
100% natural

Waste-Away is a unique combination of bacteria that attack and dissolve organic wastes in the aquarium quickly. Even with good maintenance and monthly water changes, sludge and wastes remain in the aquarium in hard to reach and hard to see places, and are dissolved in the water. Waste-Away, a 100% natural beneficial-bacteria based product, works to quickly find, break down and remove these wastes.
Waste-Away works to remove aquarium gunk, unclog gravel or coral beds, and keep filter pads freely flowing longer. This results in better water flow, more oxygen and a healthier aquarium environment.
Waste-Away differs from other sludge busting bacteria products as it comprises several species of bacteria that were isolated from aquarium or pond environments so they can quickly and efficiently clean your aquatic system.*
Use it to help get rid of cyanobacteria, aquarium slime and to keep turtle tanks clean!

Dude, that stuff sounds exactly like Hiatt's sludge remover and right now bacteria. It worked, but it wasn't some kind of miracle cure. Keep us up to date on this one.

its seems to be a maintenance add on per say, the price isnt bad if you buy a gallon and it has a shelf life of seven years. you add it to water change routine if you do it weekly. so i plan on doing small water changes weekly now.

Without even watching the video yet, I keep thinking this looks like a Darhma Initiative video from Lost.

sorry i didnt get before and after pics, but wow this stuff works very well. after 2 days cyano became very stringy and was coming off. Emily blew it away and on day 3 areas that where blown off did not come back, sand bed is clear also. got a lil bacteria bloom but that was to be expected as stated on label. all coral and fish are doing fine

I don't expect to. I ordered the 32oz bottle. Figure that'd last awhile for 3 sub 30 gallon tanks! Lol.

so far after second dose my tank has really turned around and cleaned up. a result of the excessive waste being broken down, cyano and other algaes have gone away. also picked up Eco balance for my tank. bio pearls will used now instead of my usual pellets(Eco bak)
I'm going to try the refresh to polish water, this is actually made to clean up algae like cyano. trying the refresh in a friends tank I maintenance, will see how it goes.

Sorry for all the dumb questions, but what size bottle should I purchase for my 90 gallon plus 30 gallon sump? Getting ready to purchase, just want to make sure I get it right?

Used it, how long before I see any results.... Sorry for all the questions, but been doing weekly water changes and freaking cyano seems to be getting worse.... Turned off my protein skimmer and dual BRS reactor as well....:) Thanks Chris for All your help and advice.....:)

Big_Pun

I think reactors should be on on I never turned off bio pellets or gfo. should be about 3-4 days as you slowly ramp up. after about 48 hours my tank didn't go white so I added the rest of a full dose.

within a couple of days I noticed the cyano "melting" away. I just did a water change on my little tank and did my weekly dose of Waste Away. It's been keeping my 20 gal really clean

im glad it worked out, hows the water your using for water changes is it ro/di? i saw those pics you put up looked like that cyano was getting on everything, or maybe its due to the light change so you needed a lil extra kick to clean up the tank. just remeber next water change to add more dr tims, its part of your maintence for the tank now.

sergiotami

I use ro/di water and your right, it was getting on everything, no matter how much I did water changes or how much I pulled out it up. I've had my old skimmer for 7 yrs, it worked great, but just ordered the sca 302, can hardly wait... Will probably sell my in sump Aqua C skimmer without the mag 3 pump.....

Great! How are the pearls working for you? Do you use them in a BRS dual reactor instead of GFO??

You guys still using this? I let my ATS and GFO go for awhile and was fighting GHA after I put them back online 6 weeks ago. Now that the GHA is gone, I'm getting sludge build up. Cyano, dinos, whatever it is. I wanted to try this.

I used the refresh and it did work. Only prob is you have to keep dosing it. I'm doing one more dose of the refresh this weekend and then starting the waste away. I would recommend the refresh first.

I don't know what that is. I saw it mentioned here but don't remember reading a description. *Goes to Google*

I use this product as well and works like a charm. I don't over do it and careful to make sure that I don't starve the oxygen out of the tank. It's a life saver when it comes to clearing the tank of harmful and unsightly algae. I normally recommend this product to all my customers when they complain about algae and smelly and sluggish water.

will waste away clean up red slime or hair algae?

rrasco
Thu, 23rd May 2013, 05:56 PM
It seems to be helping with mine. Taking time to get it all coupled with other maintenance, but we all know that's usually the case in this hobby.

i may have to get this, so those that have used this, do you clean the front glass less compared to without it?

rrasco
Thu, 23rd May 2013, 06:14 PM
Yes. I don't know how much of that is Waste Away or maintenance that I upped, but it has gotten better since I started using Dr Tims.

ktipp
Thu, 23rd May 2013, 07:19 PM
when you say maintenance, are you meaning manually cleaning or other additives?

rrasco

More water changes (2x/week), GFO, and new fuge bulbs (CFL should be replaced every 3 months for best results IME).
