Any pics or Ideas? I'm off tomorrow and need to build a cabinet to hold my 20 gallon tall tank which holds my auto top off water and be able to hide my electrical equipment. Just recently purchased a Maristar metal Halide/T5 fixture and wife's not too crazy about the ballast laying on top of current cabinet...

Like a stand and a hood or just a stand?
For a 20g it should be pretty easy and cheap.
u could just do.a simple plywood stand. U can get edge band for the ends of plywood from hd or lowes. And u just use a iron to put it on. Pretty clean and simple.
can u datto? If so u can datto the bottom deck and nail it off. As well as the top to make it square and sturdy.
the doors can also be plywood and edge banded.
and always use glue!
If I saw this sooner I would have drawn up a couple plans or something.
U can text me if u have questions.

Looks good!
R u going to put a back on it? I would recommend it, either the top ur bottom, or both and just drill for pipe, hoses and cords.
The back is pretty much the main stability and squares it up.

No, I'm using a piece of 1"X2" along the top and bottom inside as bracing....:)

Looks nice Sergio. I'm looking to build one as well.

Just curious but in Pic 2 it looks like the top board is not resting on top of the back and sides. Only nails/screws and maybe glue are holding the weight.

I'm not sure how heavy a 20g is so it may hold it long term but just wanted to point that out. Maybe you could add some vertical reinforcements if you start noticing a issue.

Just thinking out loud. Nice work.

Tank will go in bottom, length wise, leaves room for storage... Top shelf was reinforced w bracing since pic was taken....:)
