Easy to make and I have found it very effective at removing nutrients. Tank water is supplied by a single 1 1/2 inch drain from the display, and the flow is controlled by an adjustable strainer. This is something to think about if you are on a limited budget.... By the way it will more than pay for itself in time ;)

IMHO I would take the live rock out and go for either both are effective... I have made the mistake of putting live rock in my fuge in the past and I always regret it later.... Fuge space is to precious to waste on live rock.

Thanks Bob. One day when I build my dream system, it will be in the wall with multiple fuges to be viewed.

Can you create a square baffle out of acylic to direct the flow into? I've done this before in the past, and it worked very well.

Yes, and use smaller pieces of liverock rubble to even out the flow through the baffles.

Looks like you need some phyto to help w/nutrient export as well. Hmmm, if I only knew of someone who was planning on culturing some.

Like I said before, ever since I saw Troy's xenia fuge I can't help but want to try it. It's cool when you see his OTHER xenia fuge on the same system.
