So we got a couple new tanks in at the shop and as soon as the wife and I saw the large one we knew we had to have it. She wanted a tank with curved edges and i wanged a rectangular tang. And it fit our apartments specs so we jumped on it. Then we saw the mini me of it and the wife decided that she wanted it as an end table. So now we have two new tanks and I am pretty stoked. I will post pics up when I get a lil free time in front of a computer to vet them off of my phone. The larger tank is around 45 gallons and the mini me is like 15ish gallons.

Well I dont have any fishies at the apartment right now. Krystle has a 75 gallon at her parents house right now that we are gling to end up taking down and splitting up between the two tanks.

As for stocking plans on the small tank we are thinking softies and seahorses. She has a lot of cool big softies she wants to keep and I dont want them iny big tank so they will probably fill up the little one really quick.

For the larger tank she has a pair of occellaris clowns shes had since day one. Its a black and white and an extreme misbar pair. Also an orchid dottyback and a small yellow tang will be making the transition over. To this mix we will likely add a fishers angel, caddinals of some sort and maybe a cool wrasse or something not usully seen in a lot of tanks.

The sand will be hawaiin black live sand. I have always loved the way black sand looks and especially how lps colors pop against it. Also the hawaiin blk is a little larger chunks so it wont blow everywhere as I plan on a lot of flow for this tank.

On the big tank we will be running LEDs, just not sure what brand its between acan or ecotech right now. On the small tank maybe some reefbrite LED strips I dunno. Definitely will be running a sump system with refugium and a nice big skimmer on the large tank. Not sure yet of brand of skimmer though. And I am urrently debating between a wavebox, vortechs, or a closed loop for flow. Or heck I might use two or all three of the above.

The stand is going to be atleast 36" tall and 40" long and about 18" front to back. Its going to have a flat top on it for the tank to sit on and show off the cool bottom border it has, plus 0 trim on these tanks. The stand is gling to have to house 100% of the equipment, as i was already told if she sees so much as a bucket next to the tank its gone... lol

Anyways thats tge gist of the plans so far, there are a couple other things but they are surprises :)

So I put in the order for the stand for the large tank this morning. Also decided that I will be going to go with 2x 18" acan leds, the 600 prisim series.

I am still undecided on the flow, the more I think about it I just want a closed loop and MAYBE a vortech if i need additional flow.

Jasmine, I got it from Pollys pet shop in New Braunfels.

Got the plumbing about 90% done and doing a 24 hr water test. So far so good. I just need it to pass this test then it will be on go draining the tank, installing an overflow box, putting on a background and switching the drain line to pvc. (I am not diggin the flex hosing)

Anyways I know we are a picture motivated group so here are a couple.

So got some time and hooked the up this evening. I really like the progamming on these, pretty easy to do and the digital display makes it nice. I also like that the hanging and leg mounting kits come with it instead of spending more money on a hanging kit or rails. Though I will say linking them tpgether wasnt as easy as i thought it wpuld have been. Here are a few pics.

So according to the wife the lights are too bright and now I will be getting a canopy/hood for this tank.

steven, instead of a canopy, you could make a glare shield out of black acrylic to go around the bottom edge of the lights like i did on our 29 gallon

That's a good idea Ace. I think I am going to wait to see how it looks when the background is on it and has rock and substrate... maybe then it will be a little less intense.

The overflow box is finally installed and I will hopefully have some rock in it by the end of the week.

Satisfied mostly with the rock work. Put the live Hawaiian black sand in and am loving the look of it. Overall I love the 0 trim on this tank, the rounded corners and the beveled bottom plate. Can't wait to get some livestock in there!

So I figured I ought to update this thread since a few things have been added/changed. I ended up switching my acan leds for 2 eco tech radions gen1 with tir lenses. I also used Ace's idea and made a canopy for them so that they have a clean way to mount them. I also re-aquascaped the rock work a bit to build in more flat spots for corals and swim through for the fish. The rock work above the overflow box was to help add something to the negative space between the water and the canopy. I think I'll probably end up adding a couple mangroves up there as well.

Then there is the mini me version of this tank. Originally I was going to go with a small seahorse tank with it but I don't have the time for the upkeep of seahorses at this point in time. Heck I hadn't even had time to get it set up. So I found an awesome betta that had unique colors/patterning so I snatched him up. Then threw in some plants, cardinal tetras, and some Japanese algae eating shrimps. The current pic was right after I threw all the plants back in after cleaning it. I need to prune them back a bit and replant everything. But anyways here are my two tanks.
