I did get a free tank from AA and was wondering if it could be used to hold my top off water... I have a place I can hide it and it would be enough to last me a little while and not overflow my sump in case of accident...
i can make a acrylic lid but any cons to using a tank?

I use a 20 gallon tank with an acrylic cover and it works great! Lasts me exactly a week. Drilled an couple of holes for the tubing and put on a PVC cap and bushing in the lid to fill it with.

I used to have a 20 gallon setup with an acrylic top and a MaxiJet connected to my ATO. It worked pretty well. I filled it up every two weeks or so.
I now use a 10 gallon tank that is filled automatically: http://www.maast.org/showthread.php?72505-ATO-Dosing-Center

I use a 10g, no lid and my kalk reactor sits in it.
it's doesn't look rigged up any more I had to ditch the aqualifter pumps for a booster pump.

Like you could even get a lid on that! It makes me think of what Allan would look like driving a miata!
