Hello everyone, Im Aaron. Im new here and had a few questions. My tank has broken out with what i think is a diatom infestation. Brown string like growths almost resembling fish waste stuck to everything (fake plants, coral, rack) I was curious if anyone has and solutions to my problems. Heres a quick overview of the tank.

30 lbs live sand

Could be Diatoms or Dino. Phosphate is high, need to bring that down. How old are you bulbs?

that does not sound like diatoms, diatoms are kind of powdery and easily removed...snot like algae is more of a nuisance and perhaps cyano or a dino type, check the types here:

3 days lights out, keep your PH high. I had to do it twice, but it worked.

Thank you all for the info. I have some katalyst pellets, could I use that to drop the phosphates? Would it be ok in my emperor 400 basket. I'm currently running chemi pure elite in one of the baskets.
