My suitemates decided it was too cold in our room today so they turned up the temperature and my tank hit 87ish. Torch is almost gone, shrimp is dead, corals are all closed up. Pom Pom crab is MIA. Clowns seem to be doing pretty alright. I'm currently running fresh carbon and added some fritzzyme 9. I'm also floating ice to get things back under control, temp is down to 84. I don't know where i'm gonna go from here.

So sorry, tough deal man, that's the scary part on nanos...doesn't take much for the parameters to drastically change in a short period of time. Hang in there.

It's just so frustrating. I really cant afford for stuff like this to happen. I'm broke as is. It's so discouraging to take all this time, being patient, and it's all for nothing. I love this hobby, but I just can't afford to start over..

Honestly, the people are probably my favorite thing about this hobby. Everyone is so supportive of each other. Thank all of you for your advice and offers. I'll definitely pm all of you once i manage to get my tank back under control. What's a good option for a chiller/controller for an 8 gallon cube? I'm definitely looking into one now..

I wouldn't think u would need a chiller on a tank that size..But if things happen like that alot around there .Its a bummer to have to put out the money for a tank that size..An as for as a controller...There are a few reef keeper lites around for sale..
Good Luck

Reefkeeper lite is simple, and easy to setup. When you come over today I'll show you mine, also for nano chillers I would say just ask your roomates to not turn off the ac lol

Good! My roomate was a hippy and always left the A/C off when I left. I basically had to camp out in my room for the semester till he graduated

My air conditioner just broke yesterday, and it is 93 in my house right now, hoping that it doesn't kill everything, but I'm sure there will be losses, just sucks that my only real option is to aim a fan at it, or plumb a 1/3 hp chiller onto my 24g nano, how much extra water will that take I wonder? I'll have to get on that first thing tomorrow.

I'm sure you are but I would be putting a frozen bottle of ice in the tank to keep the temp down.

Good luck is all i can say, i really hope you don't lose anything! Good news on my tank, moved all my corals to zack's 20 long, and my clowns are looking a lot better.
