And want to come show me how to set up a skimmer? Suckers been running for 2 weeks now and it hasn't produced any skimmate at all.
Im not sure if its because i used all dead rock except for one 6 pound chunk of live rock or what, I also used live sand. Also if you're feeling generous I could use some help to make sure im doing these water tests properly.
I dont drink but ill buy you a beer or 6 or promise you my first born fish or something.

Skimmers can take a few weeks to break in. But also, if you don't have anything in the water to skim, it won't produce much if anything. My skimmer did the same when I was cycling my tank for a few months. Eventually I turned it off until I started adding livestock. Now it makes some nice nasty tea.

Can you adjust the height of the water in your skimmer via a gate valve or the like? If not, check the specs for your skimmer as most have an ideal operating level. Could be it's sitting in too shallow of water.

Sounds good thats what I was thinking was happening but since I have never done this before I wasn't sure.

turn the red knob to the right and see if that resolves the issue.

Give me a call this weekend. Depending upon our schedule and the ferry schedule, we'll be through Aransas Pass Friday afternoon (not likely), but very likely on Sunday evening, returning from Port A. We are in Port A most weekends (but not Labor Day). two one zero, 663, 8O79. If the ferry is more than 30 minutes, we go around, from San Antonio.
