Hello everyone, Saturday and Sunday I took my boys down to corpus and we all went out on the jetties. We caught alot of peppermint shrimp, segeant major damsels, and molly miller blennies. But we have a few other catches that we would like to know what we have. So if you wouldn't mind??

This guy is the size of a pea

And then this crab. I believe it to be a spider crab or decorator but i could be wrong.

The first is a box fish or "boston pea" not sure on the crab. You might be right on the type.

Is the box fish full grown? or will he get larger?

The box fish is a baby, not full grown. I can't recall how big they get to be... have to look that one up.

I guess a big question is does this little guy contain ostracitoxin? And if he does how big will he have to get for it to be a worry?

They do release a chemical in the water. Not in large amounts but it is consistant. So in a confined reef like a tank it will build up over time. Not sure if a protein skimmer would remove it or carbon. But it does. Or the majority of box fish do at least.

He's in a 70gal aquarium right now. Is that to small? He is really tiny right now, how much larger do I have to worry about his toxins?

If that's a cubicus boxfish (not sure if I see the black spots on him or not), I had a single one of these little buggers die and wipe out half the fish in my 150 long ago. I'd avoid putting him in with other fish, even if he is tiny. I could be overreacting, but it wasn't a good experience for my tank..

it could be a Least Puffer. Hard to tell with pic quality

It looks like a cubicus to me, but I'm not sure either.

It was a cubicus boxfish. I took him out and now he is in a friends little 10 gallon. Thank you everyone for the id.
