I wanted to see if anyone could point me in the right direction when it comes to what these guys eat. I need to feed mine.

Light mostly, Mysis, Mine is big enough that I have frozen table shrimp i thaw in some aquarium water and toss at him. Seems to enjoy those things.

Actually they will eat any small meaty food they can get into their mouths... but unless you have a specific reason for feeding or it is not looking too good, I would just leave it alone

Agreed, I have a clown that host my RBTA and i haven't feed it in 8 months or so and it is pretty big now. So it is doing just fine.

I like to feed things... I think we should try to feed them as they would eat in the wild. Just because they can live without being fed doesn't mean they shouldn't be fed regulary.

A lot of people that don't feed them justifying it by stating whatever they eat pollutes back into the tank, well just don't feed them goldfish. I personally think they should be fed from time to time while feeding the fish.

So come on, slip your anem a piece of krill once in awhile my peeps. Poor little dudes.

Maybe I should have qualified my statement by saying that there is no need to target feed them as they are likely to get all the food they need from your regular feedings.. after all,, they are rarely treated to a large passing krill in the wild!:bigsmile:

Like most above say, I don't specifically target feed mine. They DO get whatever comes their way. They are mostly photosynthetic. And yes, most of whatever they eat when you target feed them gets dumped back into your tank. Mine get dry New Life Spectrum pellets that the clowns miss. The grow and split a couple of times a year.

...and Bill's have been around for longer than most of us lol, so there you go. His also have a very strong/hardy lineage.

I guess in a full blown SPS tank with heavy flow and lots of fish I can't imagine a BTA catching a lot of food, perhaps in a low flow system.

But...I still like to feed things. :P Karin turned me onto feeding fish and corals, now I can't stop. I used to feed every other day to keep a clean system. Now water changes are my best friend.

I've taken bills advice and never had a problem keeping nems alive and thriving. if your bta looks stressed or funny, it's prob water quality or lighting. mine get whatever they catch when I feed my fish.
