Do you QT your first fish?

I'm curious as to what people do with their first fish and the reasoning behind it.

Do you QT the first fish you put in a newly cycled tank? Why or why not?

It was a pair of gsm clowns. I barely acclimated them. Knew they were tough and didn't care to qt. It was a little nano tank. So it was pretty much a qt tank. Ha ha.

Yes. QT. Bought a pair of maroon clowns, he ate, she didn't. Turns out she had an intestinal parasite that I was able to medicate without fear of hurting anything in my main tank.

I don't and have never quarantined any fish. BUT... when I set my next display tank up I will QT. I have lost a lot of fish in the past for not QT'ing. This is also the reason I won't add anymore fish to my current setup, I'm scared to introduce something. I will also QT these fish when I move to a new system in a year or two to make sure they are also pest free.

At first I didn't, all it took was introducing one clown and ich took him out and 3 other fish. Tough lesson to learn to say the least.

I was asking this question because I had a new DT with nothing in it yet, I figured in the case there was a disease of some sort, I could treat it easier than a stocked DT. Something I'd still rather avoid though.

At any rate, I already moved my old livestock to the new tank so any new fish are definitely going through QT.

I have been the same, no quarantine tank. But the next tank will have one, tired of dealing with various issues that can be headed off before they start.
