I've been tossing around the idea of building a tank into the wall of one of the niches in our house. I brought it up with the girlfriend a few months ago and she thought it was cool. I've been told something sounds cool to do before only to have it come back on me when I actually go through with it (like install a...uhhh...exercise pole in the game room and put up club lighting). So I mentioned it again and pleaded to begin working on quotes and getting all the details worked out. I have the go ahead again so I think I'm safe on this project. I'd truly appreciate any help and opinions. I've read a few posts on similiar topics and I'm excited to start knocking out sheetrock.

Here are some thoughts and info on the location of the tank:
1. I'm thinking on something in the 50-75 gallon range and possibly something custom built.
2. I was wanting an acrylic bowfront and have the corners flush with the wall. This is a small niche and it's about 36" wide
3.There is an empty void behind this wall and I would be able to access it from the coat closet.
4. I'd like to get as big of a tank as reasonably possible but don't want it to be a huge pain to work on/clean.
5. The niche is in the main entry way of my house about 20 feet from the front door which is the only source of extra light into the room but no direct sunlight ever.
6. I have 12-14 foot ceilings so would like something as reasonably tall as possible to kinda balance out the look. We have a 24" deep tank now and it's nice just not sure of how much deeper is ok to go though and still be within reason.
7. I'd like this to be mostly coral with possible 2-3 fish.
8. Definitely wanting to do LED lighting.

So here are some questions I've had...

1. What is the best way to remove heat from the room?
2. Is this a huge concern or would a vent above the room and one on the door be the best way to let air circulate naturally (there's a long ledge above this room that goes along part of the hallway so it would conceal a vent)
3. How would you finish the area above and behind the tank?
4. Would you keep the niche look? This one is about 4-5 ft tall and the tank I was looking at is 20" deep so I've considered bringing the top of the arch to wrap around the top of the tank.
5. The tank I was considering to use is 36x18x20. Do you think this is this a good size? This one that I was looking at is around $600 with builtin overflow.
6. Know of any reasonable custom tank makers? Possible best route to take if I want something deeper than 20" but can't find one.
