Hahaha... Between the infamous parking lot deals where we exchange little baggies of something precious for cash, the mysterious glow of those powerful lights spilling out of the windows of our homes, and now you mixing up big vats of chemicals in your garage, it's a wonder we don't all get asked more questions more often!!

so what ARE all the buckets for?

No longer a reef-head! I am using the handle-less buckets to ride serpentines around with my green horse :D:

interesting. I had a star sticker on the tank to know how much to take out and ran an ultra long hose to the laundry room so it could drain directly into the drain. Much more convenient than schlepping all these buckets.
I also converted to the alton method of filling tanks back up with a strong pump in the 44gallon saltwater container and another ultralong hose - just pump it straight into the sump and let the return pump mix it in :)

I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one who can lose count between 1 and 4.

I thought about that method, even have a very small line on my tank that measure 30 gallons.... But sometimes I have to do water changes alone and I can imagine the mishaps I might have going that route...

Even with 4 buckets and taking out 30 gallons I have miscalculated a few times.... :-(
