im going to be purchasing a controller very soon and i was trying to get some input from some fellow reefers
i like the fact that the apex has connectivity to the internet right out the box and that it could be monitored by phone and computer
and i like the fact that the reef keeper has a display module
im going to be going out of town a couple times this year for a couple of days
and i like the fact that i will be able to monitor my tank
could some users chime in and help me make a decision

If you want to monitor your tank while on vacation.... Your better off with the Apex. The rkl is just basically a digital timer with a temp probe, to access any other features your going to have to spend more..

I have a reef keeper lite and really think it's a good product. It does more than just temp control but also comes with ph probe and two control extentions that allows you to control lighting features as well as storm cycle and wave motions. I can't speak to Apex since I've never experienced that product before but also heard good things about it.

That depends on which lite you speak of. The basic is just that.... It's the cheapest model but doesn't include much.

Idk about the apex, but he said it comes with Internet access right out of the box.... That's something the lite can't do unless you upgrade..

For a $120 it is hard to beat RKL for the price, but if you want internet connection you will need to upgrade. Elegant Reef carries the Reef Keepers if you want to learn more on them plus great service.

But looking at the apex, the integrated Internet and iPhone app right out of the box is something I would be intrested in. Sure the RK can be upgraded to do the same or almost the same but for how much more???.....

Rks come with a cool controller, I got over it the next day...... I'd rather have access to everything on my phone....

I have an apex and absolutely love it! Never had a reef keeper so cant speak for it.

When I was in the grand cayman it was nice to be able to check my tank out on my iPhone.

I still only use temp and ph. I also bought the variable speed addition but I havent needed that yet. I will soon though. I didn't need it for ato as I already had the tunze osmolator but you can also do that if needed. Actually there is a ton of things both these units can do.
