So as some of you may have read I lost one of my ballast this past weekend and am waiting for a new one to come through the mail. I have noticed that my Neon Green Palau Nepthea corals are not doing to well since I upgraded to my mp40. Should I be worried or will they take some getting use to the new mp40? They still open up and have polyps coming out but not like before. I also moved around most of my rock work to make room for the mp40 to run right. The reason I'm worrying about the Neon Green Palau Nepthea corals is because I came home today to find my frag of cat eye zoas melting away. I'm not sure if it's the lack of light or what.

I'm not without lights all together. Only one of my ballast went out which runs 4 of the 8 bulbs. I still have 4 running. As for the flow on the corals, it's not hitting the Neon Green Palau Nepthea directly. The coral on the right side of the tank and the mp40 is on the left. Flow is hitting it but not hard.

The ballast still coming tomorrow?

You might think about turning the flow down on the MP40 and then slowly ramp it up over time. The coral may not be happy because of all the changes at once.

I hope it comes tomorrow. They gave a delivery frame of tomorrow through next Wednesday. I keep checking the tracking number but they haven't updated it yet since yesterday.

Does anyone in San Antonio sell workhorse ballast?

You might check the equipment library, not sure if there is anything in there that could help, but if so, borrowing the equipment and stuff is a charter member benefit. It might be worth it to pay the $25 fee to charter up, if there is something that could tide you over till your ballast comes in. Plus you get all the other cool benefits too...

What size tank do you have and how much room up top? Any canopy? Could you use a clip on light? If so we have one you might be able to borrow if your ballast doesnt come in. PM me or Kristy if you think you might like to go that route.

New ballast installed and is working great. Now just need to get the corals adjusted to the strong light again.

Glad it showed up so quickly. Been there, done that. It's a lot of stress, but I've had corals go for almost a week without lights. Like you said, make sure they get adjusted to the lights again.
