Okay, so I'm in a LFS today and I spied the marineland led unit for just over three bills. I spoke with the guy there and he told me that the feedback that he had was lps and softy, great. But sps would brown out.

I was thinking that the sps would remain brilliant with the led.

Am I missing something? I was thinking of picking up two units to cover my tank. But I worry that putting down 8 bills for a poor solution....

Stephen's tank looked really good. Is it marineland LEDs that aren't up to... par?

Don't quote me, but I believe Marineland is using 1w and not enough to compensate whereas most use 3w now. Also, I'm sure they are using cheaper diodes.

I am very happy with my three AI units ad they hve done awesome job.... Corals look awesome and growth is gud too.... I am sure for sps u have to target certain par .....
How big is ur tank..?? Three bills for marineland fixture seems high when AI r down to 399 and plus it is dim-able ...
If question is in general about LEDs than yes LEDs can grow corals like halides .....
The only thing I hve notice and I may or may not be right that couple of my red acros in sme areas r grafting green....it's been only two months since I converted to LEDs and at thw same time I started zeovit aswell.... So dnt really know it's because of what...
I'll try to take sme pics of it over the weekend

One watt per lamp, you are correct. I was thinking three was the norm.

Isngh, yeah, I probably would have to shop around. I had a bit of store credit with one of the LFS so I considered it.

Didn't seem like he was trying to sell them. He was pretty honest about the coral it could support.
