First I would like to said Hello to everyones on Maast family. My name is Tommy i was the founder and previous president of DallasMas some of Maast member made know me or heard of me before, but for most that you that haven't welll Hi:wink_smile:. I have a 400gallon and a 300gal SPS inwall back in Dallas, but due to my work and my school i was force to move to Hawaii and travelling for awhile. But in Hawaii i was able to finishing my master in marine bio, but i was away from my tank:cry_smile:. Recently i just move back to Tx and relocated in South Austin due to my jobs and i also have the opportunity to start a 100gal shallow reef. And so the project begin after living in hawaii i always have this crazy idea of making a Volcano reef.
The Tank spec :
110gal 48x30x18 inches tall three side Starfire.
Sump 40gallon breeder with just LiveRock a oversize skimmer Reef Octopus SSS xp3000 Cone.
Return pump 1620 if i remember correctly
Flow tunze full size wavebox , 2x mp40.
Lighting is 48 Cree LED custom build by my own.
With 1 inch of sandbed which is funny since my 300 and my 400 was BareBottom > But the wife said what kinna Volcano that have no sand and she wanted to add Black sand which i do not want to go there so i settle with 1 inches of white crushcoral.
This tank will mainly be SPS and Chalice and i will try to collect the Rare Coral out there beside the one i already have. Due to the size of this tank so i have to be very careful of what coral i choose because i do not want to over stock them but rather they have the room to grow out.

Most of the coral will start out as a frag that way i can keep this tank more insteresting and i can also experience the grow process. Plus that way i can post more picture for you guys hehehe. :)
Thank you for reading and looking forward to meet you guys in the near future.
Tommy
1 Video is my 300gal inwall when i noticed the Regal Tang i have for 5 year plus is starting to hide my coral. I notice all my white coral or frag that i add to the tank keep missing but never know why until one day i catch her pick it up drag it over to the MP40 and drop it.

Second Video it is also the same tank whenever i decided to take out all the Sand and redo the aquascape. And add 102 Cree LED.

On my phone so I can't see the videos but it sounds great. We are happy to have you aboard! It sounds like you have a lot of experience to bring to the board.
What exactly do you mean by "volcano"?

I am guessing that's the island that comes out of the shallow reef, right? (the volvano)
Oh and poor you for having to live in Hawaii! lol
I'd gladly leave my tank and just go snorkeling!

Tommy, welcome to MAAST...I already commented on your ARC post but I was curious if you plumbed a waterfall into that volcano/island? I see water coming down it. Great looking tank. I look forward to updates.

Justin - Meaning i have to do the Rockwork and the aquascape on top of the water level instead of just inside the water. And have the water pump down the Rockwork, it is hard to explain so i guess is better if you get a change just check out the vid and you will understand what's i was going for hehehe

Karin - Yes some made said it is just and island and some made consider Volcano which depend on how people looking at it. Original i was planning to do the aquascape in the middle, but i wanted to cover up that conner overflow. This tank was supposed to be a room divider, but than again sometime you can plan all you want but the wife can make everything change at the end LOL. So i did complain much just nod my head and agreed that way i still get the tank. As for snorkerling it is fun but nothing compare to diving and watching the local catching fish, but after awhile you gonna wish you didn't have to gear up everyday 8 -12 hour a day pretty out the in the Sea LOL. Lucky this is like a passion for me and ofcourse hobby instead of a jobs which make alot of different. Oh and how many of you wondering how do the hawaiian catching the Flame wrasses because i got the opportunity to help them and i tell you it was nothing like i would amazing.

Rob - The Island/Volcano's waterfall is using by a mj 600 1 it go through a Rox .08 carbon reactor and out to the top for the waterfall. The Volcano is no where completed since i still have to add another pump, because iam still trying to eliminate dead spot of the Volcano and i have been keep my eyes very close on nitrate/ammonia level which it is under control thank to the over kill skimmer that actually rated 4 time more for this tank. But supplement with that iam also using carbon source Volka/ Microbacter7 untill i can get my Biopellet back online which i will cut off Volka and strictly stick with Biopellet and Micro7. I have experience with Probidio product like coral digest / reef biotium / coral booster and such but it expensive after awhile, well maybe not for this tank but for my 400gal and my 300gal. But now we have biopellet so that should taking care of the problem.

Very cool tank..... My girl would freak with the rocks coming out of the tank like that..... The chance of some of the critters I have shown her crawling in the rocks getting out would terrify her......

great actually i got couple firefish other smaller fish and bunch of snail he don't even bother with them, but as soon as i pick up a bag of Nori he goes crazy as you can see. One thing i also notice that when i feed him shrimp just to see how he react to it, but he actually didnt like it, he just tasted and spit it out. So he is officially a vegetarian LOL.

The one that it is actually going after the coral is my Moorish Idol. For some reason she keep knocking down my SPS frag on purposed. So i keep my eye on this worst case i will bring her back to Dallas and throw her in my 400gal to be roomate with the rest of my tang since i convert that tank to FOWL.
