I know MAASTards have donated to the zoo aquarium so I would say it is possible.

During the last meeting we had at the zoo Bstreep tried to donate a nice chiller for the zoo's reef tank but the zoo guy acted like it would be too much trouble to get it past the higher ups. Maybe bill will chime in because I don't want to put words in anyone's mouth.
Not sure about sea world.

Seaworld will take donations it just depends on what it is. The large Gigas clam they have was donated by Jim Norris, who was VP of MAAST at the time. I was just there last Saturday and that clam is amazing, it has to be one of the largest in captivity. However its starting to show signs of bleaching, and from what I've read this is usually the beginning of the end for these beauties.

I wonder if they have the same governmental issues that I did while running the equipment management branch in a hospital. We weren't able to accept donated equipment (wounded warrior games and tvs). It was a process to have it donated to another NAF organization, they in turn would issue it to me on a hand receipt, but it would never go on the property book.

It was a pita.

i donated several large tangs to seaworld a few years ago. i will see if i can find the contact info for the people i dealt with (assuming they are still there). there is a little bit of paperwork to the process and it takes a couple of weeks or more for approval from supervisors, etc.

glad you are considering this tony, it really feels good to know they will go to a HUGE tank. the qt tank that my donated tangs went into was 500 gallons :)

Thanks, I know there was a few ppl on here that were really interested in him and its not that I dont want him to go to them.... Just would be cool to be able to take my son to see his fish that we donated. And the fact that he will be going to a home that would be bigger than any of us could deliver...

No kidding, I was sitting here a minute ago staring at my tank, thinking what if I bought a bigger tank, set it up in the dining area than transferred everything to it...... would be neat but I plan to remodel the kitchen/dining area soon so that would be a hurdle in the future.... If it was already done, I would probably be looking for a 220+ gallon tank....
