very wrong i like the rox carbon from brs very high quality and my tank looks like its in HD when i use it, elegant reef carries it. the catch is this carbon removes a lot of fine particles but exhaust fast. also keep in mind most media works better in a down flow reactor. just like with most stuff in life you get what you pay for. you should show the "gentleman" this link

I'd prefer to use something rechargeable like Purigen, but that's just me.

Actually thats good to hear, I use the dual reactor from BRS with their GFO and ROX carbon, just wanted to see if there's anything better used by forum members... The Purigen is great, but the whole recharging process makes me nervous...

Nervous because of the bleach? Bleach is less harmful than many people think, well, when caution is taken that is. Bleach oxidizes pretty quickly into the air without any help. If you want to really be safe you can dose with a dechlorinator like Prime, I always do. If you can still smell bleach, let it air dry longer or rinse it more. The FDA approves the use of bleach on fruit and vegetables so long as you let they are rinsed and air dried for a day or two.

So would you recommend using the Purigen in the BRS reactor??? BRS sells something similar to Purigen or is it completely different??? Would you or do you think it would be better than GFO??? Just curious as to what your experience has been????

I don't use chemical filtration on any of my tanks so I couldn't say, especially in regards to the skimmer; I don't use those either.

I think I'm the only one still clinging to bio pellets, lol. the BRS are similar to the Eco bak ones I use and I'm very happy with them. the diff from the others is size of pellet and they don't slime up. the larger size means it takes less gph to tumble them and larger pellet gives more surface for bacteria to colonize. they just need to tumble at right flow to work properly.
