Building a 29 system with sump and HOB overflow. Looking for a 5 gallon tank to put inside stand.

dimension of inside of stand is 20 x 10 x 20.

Looking for something thats clear instead of 5 gallon sw bucket. Anything that will fit.

Thanks

Probably have the best luck getting a new one from Petco or the likes of. I never understood why a 5.5 gallon tank is $14.99 new and the 10s are only $12.99. Seems like Petco is keeping their $1/gallon sale going so the 10s are only $10, but 5.5s are not included in the sale. I made a 20 long sump this weekend so I know they still have tanks on sale.

I've thought about sumping my 29 so I can run macro easier but didn't think the tank would fit in my stand. You've given me hope I can still do it with a 5.5. I'm interested in how it works for you. What kind of stand do you have?

Yep, $1 per gallon includes 10s, 20 longs, 29s, 40 breeders, and 55s. Tank only, no kits. I need to rebuild my fish room with 40 breeders.

It should be all the Petco's. I know 100% the one on Bandera/1604 is doing it, I was there Sunday. I normally don't see anything on their website about it.

Cool. Just curious if it was similar to mine. I found mine for free in front of a house on a craigslist ad so I have no idea who made it either.

Did you get a discount on the 5.5 or was it $14.99? Is the 29 setup yet? If not, I would drill it. I regret not drilling my 29. Now that it's setup I can't.

I have not seen anything bigger than a 55 in Petco for years. I remember, at least at the Bandera/410 location that is now closed, they used to have huge tanks in there. I've bought 20s, 29s, 40s, and 55s at Petco while on sale, best deal ever. Just to put it in perspective, I believe they regularly sell the 40s for $109.99 discounted to $40. Sure would be nice to pick up 125s new for $125, or even bigger for that matter.

lol yeppers tank is all setup. My 180 is drilled and is RR. works great. I have an overflow for the 29. I have used them before. Trying to drill a 29 can be dangerous.

If you know a way . . . lol Otherwise, I will be moving my return pump up so I wont get a leak. lol

no discount on 5.5 :^(

Its dangerous going into that store. I allmost pulled out the mastercard.

I don't see why drilling a 29 would be any different than any other tank. So long as you do it right. Then again, I've never drilled a tank period so I don't know for sure. I have a spare HOB overflow as well, I just don't like to use them if I don't have to.

I just created a new album 29HOB/5. It has pics of that tank, stand, and sump. See if you know that stand and tank.

Is it a cube? Doesn't look like a standard 29. My stand is different; it only has one door. That is a 5 gallon under there? Looks way bigger, but I guess everything is relative.

Just measured. 2ft x 1ft x 1.5ft tall. Not sure what that is. Im looking it up.

Yeppers That sump/refugium is 5.5 gallons. That pump is big and will be changing probably to maxijet 1200.

Just looked it up. lol Thats a 25 gallon tank. lol

Have you had any issues drilling thin glass before? I want to try it now. I think I have a spare 29 anyways.
