So after explaining to my wife that I usually spend about $1000 on lights, then have to have the fans for cooling, having to take them off the tank for maintenance ( just another excuse :) ), the heat that comes out of them between the electric bill and if the bulbs accidentally got wet, having to change and buy more bulbs, and a few more BS small excuses...if these lights are really good, I got the ok from the "boss" to get them after we move! LOL, I LOVE my wife. Any how, what I don't know is if they are good, how exactly they work, or basically anything else besides that they are expensive, can lift up off the tank with the mounts, and have little to no heat! Help with info would be great, as I know there are many knowledgeable people on here!

I know Ace took some pics for Sherita at the last meeting we had at Louis's (Elegant Reef). They were of the panorama and cannon fixtures above the store tanks. Maybe he can post some of them for you.

When I set up my new tank I went back and forth between the Ecoxotic, Aqua Illumination, and Orphek led fixtures. They are all decent lights. Also, Evolution is making some nice fixtures as well.

John, are there any that are a bit cheaper than the others but still as good? Also, with this lighting, how high in coral lvl can I go that these will be sufficient for? SPS? Clams? Color still good on corals?

Lot of factors to consider. What size tank, how deep, how many fixtures you have over the tank. I went with 2 of Aqua Illumination Sol over my 120 that measures 4' X 2' X 2'. I may add a 3rd in the future.

They are all fairly expensive. Evolutions are running a little less, but you consume more energy and have less features. They are still a good light.
The Sols I mentioned have more bells and whistles such as ability to control out put and color range.
I have not ran the Ecoxotic Panarama or Orphek fixtures. I was really really close to buying the Orphek fixtures though.
