Alright, I have a mini maxi nem that needs to get off of his rock so I can move him into his permanent home. As of yet, I have had no luck convincing him that I have his best interest at heart.
So, let me hear your suggestions for evicting him from his rock. I do NOT want to injure him in any way at all. I can't get to his foot to try using a credit card to get him off, it's down in a crack in the rock.
Ideas anyone?

can the rock be taken out.... my experience is to chip around it. now either rock breaks, or vibration and being out of water make it release. either way banging with screw driver and a hammer is always fun..... wear safety goggles :)

Try using a syringe or turkey baster to blast some slightly chilled water at the foot. Sometimes works even with tank temp water.

stangchris, that I can do. I like banging on things with a hammer, it's what I do for a living :)
His rock is in a holding tub, so it will be easy to get out. I just do NOT want to hurt him. He's lovely. I lost my other one in the tank crash :(
tebstan, I will give your idea a try too. The chilled water, I am assuming tank water/nsw?

Yes, definitely tank water. You want to stress him just a tiny bit. Well, stress is too harsh a word. You want to irritate him. Make him mad at you and want to walk away. ;)

Ok, now I have this vision of my nem hiking up his skirts and flouncing off. Thanks for that ROFL!

I take them and suspend them above a bucket with a little bit of water in it. They will eventually move into the water, dropping off. Try and keep it from getting too chilled.

Did you get him off? Those mini maxis are so hard to move since they're so flat. Every time I've seen one exposed to air for removal it didn't look happy for a long time after.

I'm going to see if I can get him off this evening. Just got in from work, hot and tired right now.

Got him moved last night. I could not get him to let go so I just took a hammer and chisel to the rock and made a little rock that would fit where I wanted him to go. He's happy this morning, so all is well.
