About 6 years old and measuring at almost 19 inches now.

Whoa! That's one big starfish! That's not by any chance one of those "green death stars," is it? Ever noticed small fish going missing?

As far as I know, it just a plain old black brittle star. I don't know about fish, but he eats flake and pellet food. He always wins the fight with the snails over food.

I had a black spiny like the one pictured for a couple of years, and he was a model citizen. It was cool to see the arms come poking up out of his rock at feeding time. However, when I traded in the rock b/c of an over-abundance of palys, the brittle star went with it.

i had a purple one, that lived in harmony with my harlequin shrimp for a looooong time. then one day the harlequin got the munchies
