peppermints are good but they may eat coral ... the twizzer deal is the worst to do they just spread more ... i like to use kalk in a syringe and that seems to work ...

Try lemon juice. That's what I use. It still causes them to spread like everything else but it's a heck of a lot cheaper.

Boiling hot water works. Just don't try to boil RO/DI unless you want it to explode/

I didn't have good luck with the boiling water thing. However, I think you have to keep it at or near boiling the entire time which may have been my problem. If it works for you though, that's even cheaper.

it doesn't explode, due to lack of minerals and if you use a smooth lined vessel to boil it in can make it seem like it's not boiling(lil bubbles) causing a person to heat it more. this will cause it to super heat without any sign of it boiling and any stray drop or break of the surface causes it violently erupt like a volcano, burning you. I've boiled ro/di water on many occasions with no I'll effect except turning the syringe down and spilling it on my self. also you need a large syringe 30ml+ as you need to engulf the apatasia and melt it away, without giving it a chance to release "spores" and causing more of them to come back.

When I did try the boiling water thing, I just used tank water.

So are you guys injecting the aptasia with a needle? or just surrounding them with the boiling water? In or out of the tank?

Kalk paste water works extremely well injected with a syringe.

you just aim for center and keep water flowing at good rate up close (in or out of tank just be careful with near by coral)so you melt them. it happens so fast that they don't get a chance to release spores to reproduce but you need enough water to fully melt them down to nothing, and you gotta keep hitting them till they are a gooey lump of crap.
