April 2011 MAAST Meeting

Saturday April 30th, 2011

Time:1pm-3pm at GCReef followed by the tank tour

Snacks and drinks will be provided.

We have a special presentation by Shelly (aka- fishgirlshelly) about mariculture and the importance of captive raised breeding among the reefing community.

This will be followed up by a Corpus Christi tank tour like last year.(Please pm me or post up if you are interested in showing your tank).

Last year was such a success, lets make this one just as great.

SWEET! I loved this meeting last year and it was a great opportunity to get to see more of GCReef as well as some very nice tanks in Corpus. :D Thanks so much Shelly for offering to speak and to all the great guys over at GCReef for hosting this.

Been awhile, but I really enjoyed the last meeting I went to at GCReef. I scored some great corals too. They have a great facility and awesome staff and stock. I'm sure the presentation by Shelly will be great.

Dont forget you wallets too, haha!!!! We are going to get in some special, huge shipments of coral and fish just for the meeting! And, fyi, we are open 7 days a week so if you are staying the night, you can buy your stuff on Saturday and come by on Sunday to bag it up and take it home....cant wait to see everyone!!!

Squamosa!

I want one but no one else seems to like them so I never see that kind for sale. No fancy blue or purple. Good ol fashion earth tones; yellow green and brown.


And maybe a yellow eye kole... maybe... :innocent2:

Sorry guys, I have been soooo freaking busy with work this past month, but I wanted to check in about the upcoming meeting that we are hosting at GC Reef at the end of this month.

We are getting ready and prepping our store for a great MAAST turn-out, and by all means, feel free to throw out some requests for corals, fish, good and equipment because we will be planning a series of orders prior to the meeting, and we will do our best to have some new and interesting stuff in!

Tebstan, we have one beautiful Squamosa right now in the store with all the beautiful earthy tones you are looking for as well as some different maximas and other clams. Sooo, you can put a check on that request.

But, seriously, feel free to throw out some things that you guys have been looking for and we will see what we can do.

Prior to the meeting, we will probably be doing an Indo order, an Aussie order, and a Carribbean order (awesome rics, sponges and stuff) before the meeting.

If you are doing a Caribbean order any chance you could get some Epicystis crucifer (Rock Flower Anemones)?

Glad everyone is excited to come down for the meeting! I promise to have a fun yet educational presentation for everyone :) As far as the "requests"....I will see what is available through my supplier and do the best I can to get what people are after! Remember to bring your bathing suits as beach season is officially here!!!

Can someone give more details on the tank tour? Who's tanks we seeing, how long do we expect this to take?

Lorraine, last year's tour went from roughly 3:00 - 6:00 and we saw four amazing tanks. We are shooting for about the same but are still nailing down the volunteers. Hope to have more firmed up this week.
