Chiller Question..???

Best chiller that u guys hve used so far...
I am planning to buy it before summer hits..will be using this on my 75 gallon reef...

i have a oceanic 1/2 hp and its not to loud but hate how it drops the tank 3 degrees when it turns on

i wouldn't go with one that has a built in heater unless its a smaller tank i hate the idea of heating the tank up in the summer

if i had to buy a chiller new right now i would go with the JBJ Arctica Titanium Chillers just because the rep. always take care of everything if theres ever an issue

What size is your tank JT, 1/2 hp is big! I like my arctica because it is quiet too!

++ on th arctica. Mine was extremely quiet. Check out Teco chillers too. They have a sweet look.

its a 180 with 75g sump the nice part was the 1/2hp wasnt much bigger than my old 1/3 and i only lost 25$ on the swap out

i had gone to small once 100g with a 1/10hp chiller ( but the chiller did look sweet lol viper blue) and i felt that on my electricity bill my gf was mmmaaaaaDDDDDD lol so now i always over size so it can cool with ease if it has to come on i still run fans in the sump and above the tank

i have mine about 2-3 from side to side and front wide open and back has about 7 inchs

what ever you do dont put a chiller inside of stand it wont chill the tank lol ....

each one has different ventilation requirements. Mine is about the same as JT's.

Just remember that a chiller is simply a heat pump, removing heat from your tank and dumping it wherever the chiller happens to be. Putting it under a tank, just doesn't make much sense. I really, really like my Tradewind Chiller.

Best chiller I ever had was the Arctica. it was the 1/20th small one, but it kept my 50gal a nice even 78 in the middle of Phoenix in the summer, before getting it, I was having temp spikes upwards of 89+ due to house AC issues. **** I miss that tank......
