Rough day...

My maroon clown that I had for 1.5 years was dinner for my angler today. They had been together for such a long time I figured it wasnt a problem. The angler is obviously happy. He is nice and fat now., but I moved him to the another tank afterwards....So I went and got 2 clowns to pair together. I guess from being nervous, one of the clowns went to go hide. But one of my eel's got him. I didnt personally see it, but there was an obvious bulge in his stomach. So I got one more clown and so far they seem to be getting along now...I guess it was a mistake from feeding the eels every other day, to every 3 days, and the angler once a week...I hope all goes well from here...

Natural habits, Predators normally eat things that will fit in their mouths. A lot of times things that you think are to big for them arent. Good Luck with your new clowns.

This is the reason people nomally have a strictly predator tank versus mixing and taking a chance on loosing livestock. Ive been there done that.

Are you still comfortable with this type of set up?
There have been some great deals here recently on used tanks. You could consider having a separate system for the 'feeder' fish rather than mixing them with the predators.
I think even if they don't get eaten immediately chances are it's a pretty stressful environment for them.

We worry a little about my 75g, specifically about the antennata lion and my long nose hawk. Size wise I would say there is no way the lion could eat him, but we still worry. The lion is a little slow, I think he is a little special Ed and the hawk is a lot smarter, so hopefully we will not have that issue.
