What do you think your spouse should know about your saltwater hobby and what is just a plain secret?
Here's mine:
Know - There will be a very large piece of furniture right where you wanted to put the TV
Secret - How much it cost to buy and then whether I sold it or just gave it away.

Secrets: when it comes to my hobby there are no secrets. Besides; I let her do the check booking and account managment (hate looking at numbers). I do not even know how much my check is unless I ask. Direct Deposit...

I'm not into compromising intergrity or trust either. If he really had to know, I would tell him my secret. However, then he would tell me everything related to his hobby I would give him strange looks too. Takes the fun out of it for me anyway. We established budgets long ago for this type of fun and I really don't care how or where he spends his fun money as long as he doesn't come begging for more $$.

Gosh yes, like I said: there's a difference between actively witholding information from somebody that wants to know or just not mentioning every little bit of info.
I trust that in the big picture he makes good decisions when he's traveling and taking care of himself without him having to report every time he eats a burger and he trusts me that I make good decisions with my stuff.

I just thought of something last night.
Another confession.
Sometimes when he says stuff like: "When did you get that? You didn't tell me you got that."
I respond with "What? Of course I told you! You NEVER listen to me!"
I find this to be highly effective. Guys just tune us out anyway, might as well use it for something practical. :D
So there. That's how bad I am!

Hah, had to read this one twice.
Gloria will see something new and ask me when did I get that... My answer...
"I KNEW YOU WOULD GET MAD!!!"
She shakes her head and calls me by nickname, hodido or something similar.

This works with clothes too, except by the time his notices it has been ages since you got it and when you are my age you can't remember if you told him or not either.

Yeah, same here. There's a 50:50 chance that I really did tell him. And the other 50% when I didn't bother to report it I figure it's fair game to use the same line as payback for not listening to all the interesting stuff I tell him all the time. ;)

I tend to stockpile stuff for future projects. Whenever something new is noticed, I only have to say it was bought a long time ago, I'm just now using it. Everything is shipped to the office, so no UPS truck showing up spoiling the surprise.
