I have a 90gal tank, 4' long. I have come to the conclusion that I have a circulation problem. how many and what size circulation pumps should I have. I am thinking two Hydor Koralia Evo 750gph on opposite ends generally pointing toward each other to cause a disruptive flow. any thoughts.

Depends on what you're keeping. Do you have a sump also? What size pump are you using for that?

Personally, I think that size evo is going to be a bit small, but I keep sps which need more flow. I had 2 maxijet mods on each end of the same size tank and it seemed to be more than enough flow. Those put out about 1200gph each. A tank with soft corals and such would not need as much flow.

I've got the next size up evolution (1050gph) and a small maxi-jet on a 60gallon that has some lps, shrooms and an anemone, and it seems to be enough to keep cyano at bay and keep the water turning over.

I agree with Cory. And who wouldn't, he knows how to hold a gun.:)

I had 4 K4s in my 75 plus a mag5 as my return.

I would say 4 K4s and a mag 9.... the new k14s seem to be unidirectional and not such a wide flow pattern as a K4. Just my experience with both, never tried the 1400s in my 75, just in the 200.

I agree with Cory that it depends on what you keep. Either way, I would add a couple small powerheads that you can stash behind rocks to stir up the dead spots where food settles.

Better yet, for the price, find some used Tunze Nanostreams and do the shroud mod to 'em... TONS of flow then, and a good, cheap price! :-)

I ran my mixed tank, 65g(36"L) with 2 k evo 1400, mounted one kinda high and after tweaking there positions the flow was perfect. it not a 1400gph in one tight stream it's spread out. I just upgraded a few months ago to a vortech mp40 es, and it's gotta be one of my best investments in this tank, I talked a couple other people into one and they agree also
