I think Ace has done an outstanding job as a president and if he wants to I'd love to see him run again!
As far as new nominations goes I think jroescher would be awesome.

I like where MAAST is headed and would like to keep as much of the current positions in place. Are current positions of Pres and VP running again?
If so I would like to nominate Ace for President.
I will reserve my decision on VP until I know if Eve would like to run again.

Don't the by-laws prohibit ErikH from holding office or being on the BOD due to him being a sponsor? Or will his sponsorship run out in time for the election and he won't renew his sponsorship?

Was just about to ask the same question.
I don't know how either Ace or Eve are feeling about running for the same jobs, but I would like to make the following nominations:
Ace - Pres
Eve - V Pres
Or if they need a slight change, perhaps reverse the roles
Eve - Pres
Ace - V Pres
Both are doing a great job in their respective office and think it would be nice to have them hold the offices again.

Here is my bio.
Here is my bio: :)
Having served on the Board for the past 2 years, I admit it has been an amazing journey. My love for this hobby is just as fresh as the day we began and then some. It is with great pleasure to have served as a Director, Interim Secretary and as your current Vice President. The time has flown by and the growth that MAAST has endured is enormous. I am delighted to have been part of this positive movement for a bigger, brighter future and look forward to taking MAAST above and beyond in 2011.
As a Board of Director as well as your Vice President, I will continue to give back to MAAST & its community as much as I can & when I can. When running for office, last year, I elected to follow the purpose of which MAAST was founded on, and in the future if elected, I will continue to follow and succeed in the education of reef husbandry, promote higher standards of health & care to inverts/coral & fish during my tenure. Below is that Purpose.
1. Encourage the growth of the marine aquarium hobby in South Texas
2. Educate and inform members and the public about care, keeping and propagation of marine invertebrates and fish
3. Prevent abuse to marine animals in general, and to conserve the marine environment by promoting intelligent, planned reef management systems
4. Promote higher standards of health and care provided by local commercial outlets
5. Organize workshops, seminars and discussions related to all aspects of the hobby
6. Raise and generate funds and create financial resources to meet these goals; and
7. Coordinate with and support similar societies devoted to like-minded interests.
During my 2 year term, I have also devoted my time as your POTM/POTY Coordinator and Chief Editor for The Quarterly MAASTARD Newsletter. It is my belief that I have proven my ability to educate & share common reef knowledge with you the members, to look forward to & enjoy.
In leading by example, as your current Vice President I have followed the President in the role he has led, as well as worked in conjunction with the BOD to strive & achieve the many goals that were set forth.
Trust, Honesty, Leadership, Time & Dedication are a very important asset to have when seeking any position on the Board and I will give 100% in leading MAAST into an even bigger, brighter future in 2011.
Eve

Lorraine, thanks for the nomination. Unfortunately I will have to decline.
After watching Ace and Eve perform the duties of their respective offices I've definitely come away with a very clear understanding of what's required, and what's not. I am not what the office needs. :) think of an elephant in a china shop, or glass house... Not really sure about the analogy, but I can assure you that I'm not cut out to perform those duties.
I will support another term under Ace and Eve though. You guys rock!

thanks to all of you who have given me the nod to serve another year.
I accept the nomination.
I think we have had a mixed year. We made great strides forward in the image and focus of MAAST. However, we still have much to do to ensure the growth and prosperity we all know MAAST is capable of. Along with increasing membership and sponsorship, I think we must continue our focus on education. This year's BOD will also have the monumental task of reworking the by-laws.
Thanks for the nomination and I look forward to serving as President for one more year.

Thanks everyone for the nominations. I appreciate the support and your confidence in me expressed both here and in the PMs I've recieved. I am going to decline my nomination for personal reasons. I am not in a position to give the time and dedication that MAAST needs and deserves.
With that said, I am fully supporting Ace for President and Eve for Vice-President.

I would like to offer special thanks to Lorraine as well as to the many others who have expressed encouragement and faith in me for the Vice President position. I am happy to accept the nomination for Vice President of the Board of Directors.
I have never had any particular personal agenda to be the Vice President of MAAST. I am however, committed to the future of this organization and if the members should determine that my leadership would be beneficial and help take them in the direction they wish to go, then it would be a great honor to serve MAAST in this capacity.
I believe we are at an exciting time in MAAST’s history, one which has tremendous potential to accomplish progress and growth. I would love to see us continue to pull together as a community, to support one another’s efforts, and further the education of our members about responsible reefkeeping.
As a foster parent and manager I have learned to live my life to reflect my personal values, because I know that actions speak louder than words. I lead by example, offer assistance when help is needed, and provide guidance and support whenever possible. I pledge to serve MAAST with honesty and integrity and promise to be respectful in my interactions with all members of MAAST (web, charter, and Board members alike). I believe in telling it like it is, working towards solutions, not contributing to drama, and doing the right thing because it is the right thing to do.

How exciting for you to accept.
From what I've seen your response to things has always been level-headed, sensible and fair. I think you would make a great VP.
We will have a great group to choose from in both the BOD positions as well as Pres/VP with so many new people offering to participate and so many of the 'old' BOD willing to contribute their time again!
You and Kristy always seem to be on the crisis team offering help anytime somebody has a tank emergency. That's really awesome. You always got something to lend or are willing to jump in the car and evacuate/move/whatever is necessary. I think your actions have already spoken for themselves. :)
With great people like Ace and Eve running again and people like Mike being willing to take on new responsibilities this is going to be a fun year to vote for sure!

Go Mike!!!
I've had the pleasure to work with you and Kristy and I'd like to say that you would make a great VP! Of all the events this year you have gone above and beyond to make them a success. With out you they would have been far less organized. Most members don't get to see who does the majority of the work behind the scenes but I've had the pleasure of seeing it first hand and I can tell you that Mike is definitely one of those people that makes it all happen.
