Mine too, a 55g hex, only about 20lb of LR and some fish. That 12g nano was awesome for a first tank!

Ok, my wife found this pic. It's from early 1980. So I'd been keeping SWF for about 9 years at the time. Yup. THIS is what they looked like back then:

This was my third tank. I never took pictures of the first and can't find any of the second. Kind of boring back then with no corals

i love those old salty pics, dang bill i love the variety of macro you kept, good thing there where no tang police they would have ticketed you for that many hippos

Yeah, that macro was expensive back then - probably about $5 each bunch. But the cool thing was when you would take your corals out to dump them in a bucket of bleach every month or 2, you did the same with the macro. They would come out nice and algae free, and back to their "regular" colors!

I've been around tanks a long time, but was scared to have one of my own. People made it sound scary and complicated. It's still complicated, but not so scary. :)

Sorry I can't seem to get a good FTS. It doesn't really do it justice.

Not bad for a first timer figuring everything out on my own...it was before I discovered MAAST.

Man, I got tire of waiting for your drawing and I'm sure others did as well. So, I made a quick sketch of what your first tank most likely looked like:

http://ramseypawlik.com/gabes-tank.jpg

Notice the pair of RARE (now extinct) Dallasaurus turneri. Man, those must have been awesome! The school of gold fish are pretty cool too. Don't you still have them Gabe?

Also, don't hate on the algae on the glass, Mag Floats hadn't been invented yet.

Thank you Rob, Chris, and Karin....

I would say that of the several I have had was my favorite tank. I'd come home and just chill in my room put the game on and just relax.....It was on the lower level of the house and was my little man cave :)

ahhhhh memories....

My very first tank looked like this:
http://www.kitchen-biodiesel.com/images/balljar.jpg

Back in the day they used scam little kids out of money by selling them brine shrimp eggs and calling them seamonkeys...

OMG! They still have them! Same picture and everything. I am tempted to order some all over again!
