Hi everyone, the newbie here again.

I was about to pull the trigger on purchasing 75lbs of dry rock for my new tank from MarcoRocks.com when I cam across ReefCleaners.org on another site. ReefCleaners' rock looks good and for what I'm ordering I'd save $50. I've read glowing reviews of MarcoRocks, I'd hate to to get inferior rock to save $50.

Does anyone have experience with either one of these vendors, is one better than the other?

It looks like they are offering diff geographical types of rock. Kinda hard to compare the two companies when they offer different products. I've heard good things about both companies' rock. Reefcleaners is a sponsor. I get a certain level of comfort knowing they have a direct tie with our website when it comes to ordering online.

Im not sure of the relationship of these 2 companies but I learned that marcorocks supplies all the rocks to another company that sells it as another type of dry Rock. I learned this first hand from the owner of Marco Rocks. He said he would never admit it if it were put on a forum lol and I can't put the name of the other website.

I can tell you after buying 100 lbs of rock from marco rocks I am totally satisfied. It is super strong, porous, if you call him he will work with you in getting the shapes you are looking for and shipping was VERY fast. I paid for 75 lbs and got 108 lbs because he sent extra to account for rocks breaking in transit! I did this and was able to get exactly what i was looking for and I am very happy with it. It has been in my tank for about 3 or 4 months and it is already covered in coraline algae.

I recently bought 50lbs of rock from reefcleaners and I was very happy. I told him it was for a 40G breeder and the pieces he sent me are perfect.

That would not seem like a problem to me, if it's the same rock for less money.

No it's not a problem at all that was my point lol. It might be all the same so you can't go wrong. :)

The rock looks identical in texture and overall shape to the marco rock but I am no geologist so I could be wrong. :P If its the same rock then I can attest that rock is awesome and will stack easily!

Haven't bought any rock from him, but we have shopped with reefcleaners.org and John has excellent customer service. I like supporting our sponsors! :)

You are looking at two different kinds of rock.
There's mined (fossilized) rock. It is mined inland and hasn't been in the water for a gazillion of years. I am assuming it's all mined from the same place.
The fossilized reef rock is sold under different names:
MarcoRocks sells it as 'Key Largo'
ReefCleaners sells it as 'Florida Reef Rock'
BulkReefSupply sells is as 'Reef Saver'
In my opinion these three are the same type of rock and you can choose your supplier based on price or customer service (John with ReefCleaners is very nice and he's a MAAST sponsor) or whatever appeals to you -the rock will be very similar/identical.

MarcoRock also used to carry what they call 'Signature Fiji' rock which is carried under the name Pukani Dry Rock by other suppliers.
Pukani is from a current reef, used to be live rock but has been dried and cleaned and is being sold shipped as dry rock.
Different kind of rock.

If you are interested in the differences let me know. I don't want to ramble on if you already decided what you want but am happy to elaborate if you want me to ;)
