When I first set up my tank, I knew I wanted to have burrowers in the future, but I also wanted sifters. Using the specifications chart at CaribSea.com I found the *perfect* sand (IMO).
Bimini Pink has a grain size ranging from .2 mm to 2.2 mm. It's the only blend with an average small grain size that is still burrower friendly. It's also safe for sifters and soft belly critters, so it left a lot of options open.
Most importantly, its pretty. :) It looks very natural, with bits of pink gravel and shells mixed in that the pistol shrimp loves to play with.
I wondered why this wonderful product wasn't more popular?! Apparently, because its not easy to get. Not many vendors stock this particular variety. And of the ones that do, there was apparently a mis-labeling issue. The wrong sticker ended up on multiple bags, making it impossible to order Bimini Pink sand.
It's time for me to add a little more sand, and I refuse to mix in an inferior sand. :not_talking:
I contacted CaribSea via email. OVERNIGHT I got a response. After seeing some people's poor results with contacting vendors, I was pretty impressed with this. The folks at CaribSea responded promptly, apologized for the error, offered to correct it for me, and agreed to look into what caused the error and fix it. I couldn't have asked for more.
