The hinge tends to rust if water (fresh or salt) gets trapped in there

Good point. I have owned both, and like my new ones alot more. The silver one's not the black ones.

also darby's had posted they carry boston aqua farms stuff, i have a pair of the black coated ones they work great

yep, as long as you rinse them well with tap water after using them, they shouldnt freeze up on you
