Coming Back, might need an update and help on 75g

Wow, I have been out of the hobby for some time now. Maast has changed quite a bit. Anyways, I have had my tank sitting in my kitchen for over a year and half now, and all the equipment is ready to go. Anyways, I am going barebottom and my tank has starboard in the bottom, trying to have quite a bit of flow and it will most likely be an SPS dominated tank. Here is the list of the equipment and supplies:

-75g RR Tank, formerly greenmako's tank. lol
-40g sump
-EuroReef Protein Skimmer, dont remember the model but its not the small one
-T5 lighting from reefgeek, T5s powered by IceCap Ballasts, light configuration taken by the grimreefer from RC
-Iwaki 20 Japanese Motor as return
-Dart pump for closed loop
-Tunze powerhead (debating, i may not need it)
-About 100 lbs of rock, no longer live so it has to be cured

I want to keep this as simple as possible. I work a lot so i will only be able to take care of my tank in the evenings. Can you guys update me on some of the equipment that has come out lately? Im also getting an R/O unit and some sort of reefkeeper. What would you guys do differently? This tank is ready to go as it is, it just needs water but I dont want to start it yet until i get updated on the hobby

Oops I forgot, one of the main questions i had was regarding alk/cal.. What are some of the updates there, I was leaning towards a dosing system as opposed to having calcium or kalk reactors. What do you guys reccomend?

Looks like you really got all your stuff in order. :) Great Job.. The dosing pumps/system for the two part A & B are my preferred way of going.

I followed the 2 part regimine and dosed w/kalkwaser once a week to keep the ph elevated. Ca stayed at 425-430, ph was a rock solid 8.3 day/night, and total alk stayed around 8.

Plus, starting with dryrock is the way to go. That way you decide what get's introduced into the tank. Be careful on your coral introduction as flatworms, bryopsis, and other unwanted pests are running rampant right now.

Thanks for the responses guys, I really wanted to stay away from any reactors and its nice to know that some of you all are doing it and its working for ya.. I guess thats what I'll do, water will go in next week. For now, I must let you go since I am taking off to vegas in 3..2..1.. Have a great labor day!!

Yo Jerry que pasa amigo? Reefkeeping has changed and I too recommend a three part dosing pump and some sort of carbon dosing to contol PO4 and NO3. There are many methods out there but the solid carbon dosing pellets seem to be the most popular at the moment. Shoot me a p.m. when you get a chance and hope you have a good "roll" in Vegas!
