A screw on female to male reductor??? I had to do with with my Mag24, but since I use vinyl tubing, it was even more difficult. I went from 1" to 3/4 and then to a T fitting for each vinyl hose.

What is the capacity of your pump, and at the return head, what is it?

I would use 1" up to the bulkheads or tank fittings. So basically use as much 1" as possible since that's what the pumps fittings are.

Bill, it's a Blueline pump with 1270gph.

Assumptions: Your return is 6 feet up from the pump. Therefore your flow will be reduced to about 900gph. 4' is 1020gph.

You should be fine with the 3/4" restriction. It WILL be your limiting factor on flow. Just make sure the rest of it is at least 1" with no sharp bends. And, 3/4" bends are a no-no.

If you are using tubing, you can buy a 1" to 3/4" barb from HD or Lowes like this one:
http://www.marinedepot.com/Insert_Reducer_Coupling_Fitting_Insert_x_Insert_Co upling_Fittings-Spears-FT6243-FIFTFICO-1-vi.html

If you are using PVC, I would buy a 1 1/2 reducer bushing similar to this one:
http://www.customaquatic.com/estore/control/product/~product=PF-SP437-251 (http://www.customaquatic.com/estore/control/product/%7Eproduct=PF-SP437-251)

I would go bigger on the PVC bushing because if you look at the hole inside is much smaller than the 1" inside. If you buy 1" to 3/4" the hole inside will be too small and restrict your flow.
