Giving out window clings to sponsor stores might be a nice low cost perk that shows that they support MAAST (education, etc.) and advertise for MAAST at the same time (there's got to be one LFS customer that hasn't heard of us yet...)

I would love to volunteer on the Education committee. I have been thinking it would be fun to do a "research paper of the month" thread were I could post relevant articles for everyone to read and possibly do a little overview/critique of the paper for everyone and then we can have comments and discussion on the paper afterwards. I have tons of good papers on coral reef ecology and coral biology that I'm sure some people would be interested in reading. I have always thought that was this disconnect between the aquarium hobby and the people who do research on the very same corals. So informing the hobbyist about what going on in research could be very beneficial. Let me know what you think.

I believe it was an open invite. Not sure when there will be an answer but, all offers of help to continue to make this a great place to be are appreciated. I am sure the BOD has seen the posts and offers and will get back to us soon. I know it isn't a direct answer - just trying to help.

yes cory, we have a bod meeting coming up on the 15th and one of the main items on the agendas is to get the committees organized and give each committee some specific goals. i appreciate the willingness of everyone who has stepped forward and in a couple of weeks we should have the lists updated and have some more organization within each committee.

i have posted the updated list on the first post including the current goals of each committee. we could still use more volunteers, especially on the L*MAR committee to help the week of and day of the event. the committee leader should be contacting the other committee members of his/her committee to get thing rolling on the current goals. we still have space on nearly all of the committees for more members...

We want to put together a book, a How To book in regards to setting up a reef/FOWLR tank. The eventual outcome is a published book although a decision hasn't been made in regards to what direction publication will look like.

What I need on the front end is one or two persons interested in designing the actual book. What chapters are needed, what structure will be used, and how it will fit together.

The next step would be to rope in a bunch of you MAAST members to actually write a chapter in your respective area, or areas. Do not let grammar and spelling decide whether you play a part in this or not as each submission will be heavily edited by folks like Kristy and Erik who have extensive knowledge on how and what looks right in print.

The end result will be a book, title TBD, that belongs to MAAST but will contain the names of each of the participants and their respective contributions.

I would like to start up a thread when a few have agreed to be part of this initiative.
